Old but new drives fully backed by seller
Pros: Tech Experts fully supports the product, even though the manufacturer stopped making the drives over 7 years ago.
Cons: When it comes down to it, none. We received NEW, unused HDs that were manufactured in 2008 and WD will not warranty them (we tried and WD closed the ticket without even telling us), but this is NOT the vendors fault.
Overall Review: Tech Experts has been excellent in working with us to make sure we will have adequate spares ready for the day when these drives start to fail, which should be several years from now.
USB Connector Weak & Archos Ignores You
Pros: Battery life and Android 4.0
Cons: Low quality screen for off-angle viewing. The USB/charging port fit is loose to start with. After 5 months of use, the USB/charging port broke loose inside the device and now we can not charge it. Archos has ignored my request for support. I sent email from their web site Sept 15, 2012 and received an automated reply saying they would get back in two business days. Five business days later, NOTHING.
prompt shipping and worked as it should
Pros: - arrived on time packaged safely - worked as advertised
Cons: -none
Nice jewelry
Pros: delivered quickly nice packaging looks good (no obvious flaws to my inexperienced eye)
Cons: none
Overall Review: It is obviously inexpensive jewelry, but it looks nice and what would you expect for $65?
Both Ethernet Ports Died
Pros: Lots of features and Newegg of course.
Cons: Set it up with SSD for a boot drive and 1TB WD for data and dual-boot to Linux-Ubuntu/Windows 7. However, one ethernet port stopped working last week in both OSs. Tried with multiple different known good cables and ethernet switches and ports but can not even get a handshake lite on the ports. Switched to second port cause I love this board otherwise and spent two weeks carefully setting it up. But today the second port stopped working. Again we tried into multiple known good eth switches and get nothing. BIOS checks for SmartLan1 show 0 length cable and the other doesn't even return from the virtual cable test.
Overall Review: The main office ethernet switch also supports two other workstations. This mobo is the only one of three that has had a problem. Should have gone ahead and done RMA when the first port failed last week. Now it has been 32 days and I have to try and go to Gigabyte support to get it replaced. Wish me luck.
Solid and Fast
Pros: flexible PCI-X, clean layout, lots of fan power connectors, orientation of memory slots helps front-to-back airflow, fast with dual-core socket AM2 CPU and DDR2. No problems with 3ware 9550SX-4lp RAID. Debian Linux installed with a couple of key strokes. And as always NewEgg delivered fast and reliable service.
Cons: lan led pins too far in the back for my front panel wires to reach
Overall Review: I put the board into service in a large cluster of servers filtering spam and viruses for hundreds of companies. These servers run 24/7/365 under huge loads. The S3950 with the same speed CPU that is in some of the other servers is making it look easy.
