The VTXT

OCZ Vertex Turbo 2.5" 30GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-1VTXT30G
OCZ Vertex Turbo 2.5" 30GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-1VTXT30G

Pros: The installation of XP pro was normal, the SSD was preformated with NTFS. I used the ATTO program, and with the larger files it gave me 240MB/s read and 160MB/s write. This SSD is being used with an Atom330 processor which is slower, but the boot is about 30 sec., one-half the time of my faster 2.6GB/s core2 computer.

Cons: None so far.

Overall Review: I expect the write spec to drop off a bit when it has to erase blocks to write. As of now, my write speed is higher than the spec. I'm glad I did not wait for the Sandisk SSD. I will never buy another HDD for anything. I wonder how the Sandisk G3 is going to compare. Applications like Firefox pop up much quicker and I like the short boot time.

Team C123 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model TC123332GC01
Team C123 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model TC123332GC01

Pros: I liked the size and the style and when it worked it was fast.

Cons: Dead after 3 weeks

Overall Review: When I received this C123 flash drive 3 weeks ago, my intention was to load WINDOWS TO GO on the drive, so I reformated to NTFS. It comes with FAT32. Although WTG would not load, there appeared to be nothing wrong with the drive. So I decided to use it just for data. I put about 15gb on it from my data drive. It worked ok for 3 weeks but then it would not read on any of my computers. Said it needed to be formated. So I sacrificed the data and reformated to FAT32 erasing all the data.... it formated to 100%, but it WOULD NOT COMPLETE THE FORMAT. I tried everything; Windows Disk Management says 28.88 GB "Healthy", but still it will not complete a format. It is useless.!!! I gave it the one egg report.

Win10 hater

ASRock J3455-ITX Intel Quad-Core Processor J3455 (up to 2.3GHz) Mini ITX Motherboard / CPU Combo
ASRock J3455-ITX Intel Quad-Core Processor J3455 (up to 2.3GHz) Mini ITX Motherboard / CPU Combo

Pros: I do not like Win10, so had to find a way to load Win7 on this MB. I used my Win7 copy from my H270-ITX computer similar to "Xu Z", point #7. It does boot on the J3455 and works with only a PS2 mouse. Both the USB2 and USB3 ports were dead. They can be made to work, so I gave the MB 5 stars for the hardware.

Cons: Microsoft and Intel could make it easy to use any O.S. instead of difficult,...

Overall Review: To make the USB2 & 3 ports work here is the procedure I used, similar to "Xu Z" Boot a working O.S. running Win7 that works with only PS2 mouse. ALL USB DEAD. 1. In Device Manager click on any device with the PS2 mouse. Then on the menu, click on Action / Update Driver Software. 2. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software". Then on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer." Click on "next" 3. View. Common Hardware Types. Scroll down to "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" and click on it and then "next". 4. Click on "Have Disk". Put the H270 driver disk into the DVD drive. Navigate to "Drivers/ USB3.0 / Intel / V5.0.0.321 / Drivers / Win7 / X64 " Click on it. 5. Both the USB3.0 root hub and extensive host controller drivers will load and BINGO, all the USB ports will work. From there everything is good and you can put your Win10 away. ha. M$ will cry.! Finally, look for Ubuntu-18 to work as well as Win7. It will be my alternative O.S. I would have bought the J5005-ITX but so far, but no one has said they beat the "evil", "Win10 ONLY" feature.

too heavy and stiff

Coboc HS-6 6 ft. HDMI High Speed with Ethernet - Type A to Type A
Coboc HS-6 6 ft. HDMI High Speed with Ethernet - Type A to Type A

Pros: Nothing really good.

Cons: I ordered 2 each of the the Coboc HDMI cables HS-3, HS-6, and HS-10. They all came with 6mm cable instead of 4mm cable. I have ordered these before and the 4mm cables are nice and flexible and in my experience work well too with no problems. However when I received the order they were all 6mm cable... STIFF... and anything but flexible. They were not as shown in the pictures, even with different plugs.!

Overall Review: In the past, I have got some great deals from New Egg, but this time I was thrown a sales curve. I don't know if these stiff cables are newer -with better specs- or older but they have the same number. It is not worth sending back for the lost time, shipping and restocking fees etc. I would suggest Newegg state EXACTLY what they are selling and show the exact picture. I will probably wind up trashing these cables. They are hard to handle.

Welcome arrival

ICY DOCK Dual Bay 2.5 to 3.5 SATA / SAS SSD/ HDD Trayless Hot-swap Dock / Mobile Rack For 3.5 Drive Bay - flexiDOCK MB522SP-B
ICY DOCK Dual Bay 2.5 to 3.5 SATA / SAS SSD/ HDD Trayless Hot-swap Dock / Mobile Rack For 3.5 Drive Bay - flexiDOCK MB522SP-B

Pros: This Flexidock arrived in the nick of time. The plastic front door hinge on my Rosewill RX-C202 front panel dock broke. This is the 3rd time the hinge broke on this type of dock. This same model is sold by many vendors and the hinge will break like macaroni. The new Icy Dock flexidock works just fine and I only gave it 5 stars, instead of 4, because it appears to be better than anything available. The CONCEPT of the doorless, trayless rack is excellent but Icy Dock could make some refinments to make it even better..

Cons: This dual SSD rack is made for all thicknesses of the SATA "2.5" SSDs. This complicates the design. More than 90% of the new SSDs are only 7mm. I would hope for a Flexidock model that is for 7mm SSDs ONLY, because it would simplify the design. It would probably make the operation smoother too. TWO UPDATES: 1. The Flexidock comes with 4 short screws. They should be used. Longer screws will interfere with ejection, making it more difficult... with a drag. 2. The SAME LED works different for a Crucial MX200, a Samsung 850 Pro, and a Adata SU900. Seems there is a design fault for the LED POWER and ACTIVITY. For the Samsung, the LED works only for Activity. When activity stops, the LED is OFF and it should be steady On. For the Crucial the POWER LED lights up, but the ACTIVITY blinking is much slower. For the Adata, the Power LED lights but there is no activity light at all. ! ! ! !! So this shows that how good the LEDs work depends on the SSD. !!! Obviously, there needs to be some changes in the circuit board at the rear so that the LEDs work the same for every SSD.. !

Overall Review: I got this new Flexidock at a bargain price and wish I had ordered several more as replacements for the other unreliable models, like the Rosewill RX-C202 or the Star Tech HSB220SAT 25B that are suseptable to breakage at the plastic door hinge. Eventually all older models of these SSD hot swap racks, with the plastic door hinge, will have to be replaced by something like these new Flexidocks. External front panel SSD docks are great for cloning SSDs.

Intel NUC (Next Unit of Computing) BOXNUC6CAYH Black Barebone Systems - Mini / Booksize
Intel NUC (Next Unit of Computing) BOXNUC6CAYH Black Barebone Systems - Mini / Booksize

Pros: 1. Great shipping from Indy 2. Works fine with Win 10/64 pro, on SSD from another computer, without fresh install. 3. Works fine with latest Ubuntu 16,10 or 17.10 4. Convenient, just the essentials. Runs nicely with 2x 1866 DDR3/L memory. 5. Runs cool and quiet.

Cons: 1. Would not run Win7U/64 sucessfully.... even with the XHCI driver already installed. USB3 driver problems.!!! 2. A USB 2 port would have been helpful, to insure mouse function with Win7 install. 3. Intel (and M$) needs to make it easier to run Win 7 instead of problematic, user unfriendly, Win 10.. 4. Needs to have front or side panel SSD easy install... instead of under the bottom plate. 5. SD card is recognized as a drive, only if installed after boot. Should be seen as boot drive, when installed before boot. Another BIOS update needed For this little computer, not to work with Win 7 is intolerable, inexcusable, unacceptable, and even conspiratorial. Something is wrong with their thinking.... Sorry to have to say that, and Intel and M$, one or both, definitely need to FIX IT.!!!

Overall Review: 1. Upgraded to BIOS 041, now available. BIOS still needs further updates.! 2. Found out how to shut off Windows Update in Win10 pro... as follows: Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services / Scroll down to Windows Update. Set Manual to "Disable". Then Set to "Stop all tasks". --- "Running" indication will stop. (this makes Win 10 a bit more acceptable... until Win 7 can be installed easily.) 3. With a few updates, this should be a very practical little computer with 5 eggs
