What can i say?
Pros: It's not Windows 8.
Cons: It's not free.
Overall Review: OEM packaging has taken a step up since the XP days, lol.
Do not buy
Pros: Looks cool, nice lights, nice bag for extra cables, modular with lots of cables, lots of power. It supposedly has a 5 year warranty.
Cons: It died on me after about 1 year and 3 months. Not completely dead, but unstable. I had to go back to my old OCZ which is still kicking despite being 6 years old.
Overall Review: I've emailed support and supposedly put in an RMA on their horrendous support site, but have yet to hear anything back or get a confirmation that the RMA request even went through.
Excellent
Pros: Curved. Fully adjustable. Looks great.
Cons: Slight ghosting. Heavy. Large stand.
Overall Review: I needed an upgrade from my 15 year old 21" 1080p monitor. Figured I may as well go QHD. The difference is night and day. I love this thing. I mostly use my rig to play FFXIV these days. I do notice slight ghosting on darker colors when shifting the camera quickly in game, other than that it's great. This is my first curved monitor and I love it. However, the stand is much larger (deeper) than my old monitor, so I had to make some "modifications" to allow it to hang off the back of my desk. This would be a non issue if you mount it with a clamp or on a wall. The inclusion of cables is nice, especially since I was not using display port until this. The cable wrap is also a nice touch, but was actually a little too long for full use in my setup. I am hardwired to my router, so I cannot comment on the wifi antenna feature. I do wish there were a slightly cheaper version that did not include the antenna for those who don't need it. However I still feel like this is a fantastic value.
Fit the bill
Pros: Price
Overall Review: I've been an NVIDIA guy for years, but finally needed a budget upgrade from my 2 SLI GTX 670s. This fit the bill. My rig is mainly for playing Final Fantasy XIV these days. I'm running it at QHD max settings around 120 fps with this. It uses a 6 pin instead of 8 pin power plug, no big deal if your PSU has 6+2.
It's an SSD
Pros: Worked on arrival. Holds what i need it to. I purchased it as a supplement to my OS SSD, which has become overloaded with Windows updates/system apps and my MMO updates/expansions. Price was great, got it on sale for 50 bucks plus 99 cent shipping with an email promo code, and i had $20 left on an old gift card!
Cons: I wish it came with a bracket for mounting in 3.5" bays. As it is now, there are just two screws holding it in on along one side of the bay. Seems secure enough though. Note that it does not come with mounting screws or any cables. Luckily i had all i needed leftover from the last build. Though technically it doesn't even need to be secured, and i imagine more recent case set ups have spaces specifically for this size drive.
Overall Review: Windows 7 did not recognize it in explorer at first, even though it did install drivers and show up in BIOS and device manager. I had to go into control panel > admin tools > computer management > disk management > and right click the drive to initialize and then format it. It should also be noted that this was not mentioned in the paperwork included with the drive, but nothing a quick internet search couldn't fix. I imagine i did this same process with my first SSD, just did not remember it. The ADATA SSD Toolbox app available from their website is kind of neat, but mostly unnecessary.
Works Great
Pros: Internal and external ports, PCIe, easy install, inexpensive. Windows 7 64 bit found it and installed the drivers automatically. The internal port would be nice if you had a front plate on your chassis with a Firewire port.
Cons: Nothing really, although I did not realize the card needed a power connection. Not a big deal as it's just a molex connection though.
Overall Review: Bought this to hook up an old external Firewire drive to a PC that had no Firewire ports. I forgot how fast Firewire is, it feels like it's not even an external drive.
Fast Shipping
Product was as described, but it was shipped in the manufacturers box. It was a gift for my wife which ruined the surprise when she picked it up at the door. That also runs the increased risk risk theft if it sits on the porch for any extended time. For those 2 reasons they are not 5 eggs. Shipping was fast though.
