MSI Laptop GT Series GT70 0NC-008US Intel Core i7 3610QM (2.30GHz) 12GB Memory 750GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670M 17.3

Pros: Super fast.
Very reliable.

I use it for work & for play. They keyboard is absolutely wonderful. It's responsiveness is on par with my G510 keyboard. The back lighting is great, color choice is by far a favorite point for me. Power consumption is very low. Dual (hd/ss)d bays! :D External SATA !!!AND!!! USB 3!!! Not to mention the wifi & eth. I run EVERYTHING on "ultra settings now!"

All in all the stats/details speak for themselves.

Cons: Strict warranty sticker on the machine won't allow me to update without voiding manufacturers warranty. My Y key is a bit poorly attached, or molded. Still works but can be annoying. HDD.

Other Thoughts: Everything I read from LKGG18 is on the money. I love my new machine. It's been the most worthwhile and enjoyable $1500 I've ever spent on a computer. I'm gladder still that I was NOT forced to Windows 8, without a touch screen.

We've seen a large difference in our electricity bill since buying this, and I'm on it more then I ever was my desktop to boot.

What more can I say, USB 3 & Esata!!! The esata is kind of a waste with usb 3, but hey it means I can connect with more devices then without.

Minus the costs, I'd happily convert all the computers in our house to the gt70's. MSI you delivered, and you delivered well.

Don't get me wrong on the HDD, it seems to be quality hardware, it's still just an HDD though, this bottle necks the machine hard. Load times between my wifes machine and mine are similar, BUT SSD, REALLY, REALLY, makes a difference. Her machine loads to windows desktop in around 15 to 20 seconds. If you can afford it, SSD makes a major difference.

I do believe I have to agree with LKGG18 again regarding an extended warranty purchase, I cannot wait to utilize the built in raid controller with ssd... I drool in anticipation.

2 out of 5 eggs 1 down. 1 to go? 10/30/2012

This review is from: WD My Book Live 1TB Personal Cloud Storage

Pros: It hooks to a network.
It has a 3 year warranty.
Built with linux based OS, that gives it 1 egg by itself.
Nice logs (ty to linux).
Simple UI.

Cons: Heat. According to SMART log data the failed drive was HOT.
POOR response times from WD support.
Failed barely after 1 year.

Other Thoughts: Looking the log data over (I liked the log details, thank linux for that) it produced a lot of heat, it also had issues with sectors. All in all I feel the architecture in the controller was quite nice, but I was reminded why I had stayed AWAY from WD HDD's for the past 8 year.

They did NOT think about heat when designing this. I believe that I was likely given a HDD that was past it's shelf life, or a green drive. Either way this doesn't change the factor that I have had a lot of issues with WD HDD's, including the "enterprise" grade equipment. What happed WD???? You used to make great equipment back in the day?!

5 out of 5 eggs SOOOOO nice to have a quad core! 12/01/2011

This review is from: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield Quad-Core 2.83GHz LGA 775 95W BX80569Q9550 Desktop Processor

Pros: Quad core. 12mb L2. 1333 FSB. 45nm.

Cons: No hyper-threading, it's not an i7/i5, price is a bit steep for older tech.

Other Thoughts: I struggled between upgrading the mobo & cpu to the i7 series, but I couldn't justify the money spent. So I looked for alternatives, and found this cpu. Price was a little steep but I figured what the heck it was still only 1/4 the costs of upgrading everything to fit an i7.

While I'm glad I did, I sure wish it would have had hyper-threading. Then again play wise in games, movies, & other high end graphical applications, music creation, ALL run so smoothly.

I choose not to overclock my equipment. So I cannot offer any insight into this cpu being a good OC option.
