Pros: The unit feels nice and sturdy. Comes with plenty of cables and even a carry case.

Cons: This was my third RMA. First unit detonated (sparks out the back of the computer, tripped APC battery backup. Second replacement hummed/buzzed loudly. Sounded like a possible bad fan of vibrating regulator coil. So onto my third replacement. I built another system from the ground up (new mobo, processor, RAM, case, etc). I used the third RMA in this new system (old system was donated to a friend). After around a year, the new computer would not turn on. Performed basic troubleshooting and narrowed it down to the mobo or PSU. Replaced the PSU with my old trusty raidmax and would you have it, it powered on. I am not happy with my experience, and would not recommend this PSU to anyone. After cursing Corsairs voodoo doll in my room, I disassembledd the PSU to see what was wrong. I'm still in the process of testing the components myself, however I was shocked to see the power transistors are simply mounted to a plate of metal under the fan (would not consider it a heatsink by any stretch). Will be ordering a Seasonic as a replacement!

Pros: Looks nice. Spiffy packaging makes it seem as if you just bought the "viper" of all power supplies. Decent weight.

Cons: Was casually listening to music when suddenly a loud bang and my battery backup began screaming. After a bit of troubleshooting, tried plugging the PS into the wall socket and "zap!"... darkness. After a trip to the breaker and some cursing, it was pretty obvious the PS had shorted. I professionally installed this PS myself, taking into consideration grounding and airflow, but that did not make up for Corsair's unfortunate lack of quality control on this product. If it wasn't for the 7 year warranty, I'd open the unit to see what detonated. I'm assuming it was a capacitor based on the sound. I also suspect the cap may have blown since the thermally controlled fan may or may not have been working properly. System specs: Intel Core i5 2500k, Asrock z68 Extreme 3 Gen 3, Coolermaster 212 Cpu Cooler, DVD RW, MSI Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 TI, 4-5 fans in Cooler Master 692 (all drawing a whopping 500-600 watts max)

Overall Review: Fortunately had an old 630watt laying around to test my components and all are ok (I suspect thanks to my battery backup). Hopefully receiving the RMA replacement unit today, which was, in my opinion, not a timely process as I've been out of a computer for 2 1/2 weeks (4-5 days to ship to Corsair, processing, then 4-5 days back). Will update my review after using the replacement for a while. -1 Egg - KABOOM -1 Egg - Poor quality control -1 Egg - Slow RMA process (through Corsair) Debatable Egg - Turned into a toaster?!
