MSI X99S SLI Plus LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

1 out of 5 eggs No RAID ability using port 5-6* 10/16/2014

This review is from: MSI X99S SLI Plus LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: It looks good. Supports the latest and greatest LGA2011-3.
Seems to be well built.

Cons: The documentation is wrong. It states on their website and in the manual 0/1/5/10(SATA1~6 only) Ports 5-6 will not work in any RAID mode with ports 1-4. Even when not using the M2 card.
*Ports 5-10 are not usable for RAID. You can select them in your RAID creation but once you "create volume" it drops to degraded with port 5 (0.6 in the bios) and another disk "missing". The missing disk even gets the serial number messed up so you don't have the ability to remove the missing disk.

Other Thoughts: I am disappointed in this purchase. I have opened a case with MSI and have used the MSI forums to discover that this problem has happened to other users without a fix yet. I plan to RMA this board for a refund if MSI support does not have a fix soon.

NZXT Tempest 210 CA-TP210-01 Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

4 out of 5 eggs Great case for most builds. 10/12/2014

This review is from: NZXT Tempest 210 CA-TP210-01 Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: Mostly steel case with plenty of room. Front air filter is easy to change. Room for 8 fans. Room for cable management behind the motherboard tray. Cool white LED's for drive and power.

Cons: No rubber grommets like some other NZXT cases. I would give 5 eggs if they included them. The power supply mesh area on the bottom also is annoying. I don't see sucking up floor dirt and running it through your power supply as a good thing. What I do is cover that whole bottom mesh area with a rectangle of black foam. It seals the air out and also lets the PSU sit on a vibration absorbing pad. Two front fans in and all the other 6 fan locations set to blow out work exceptionally well.

Other Thoughts: I have purchased at least 8 of these cases and have not had any issues with build quality. Clients like the look of the case.
If there was anything i would change it would be to allow the drive cage to be modular and removable so a radiator could fit in the front or bottom.

SYLVANIA SYNET07526 VIA 8505 Processor 400MHz 7
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: Small computer. Seems strong and not flimsy.

Cons: Old tech. I had one that came with CE 5 and app support was terrible.

Other Thoughts: I have used the CE version and the Android version. SYNETA7. The CE version is outdated and the SYNETA7's I had both died within a year.
