Stable OS

Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 SP2b
Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 SP2b

Pros: I've installed Windows XP alot over the years on many builds and computers at work. Didn't have any problems then and didn't have any problems with this. I use the media center portion on my laptop at times, but probably won't use it on my desktop.

Cons: Wish Microsoft would release a Service Pack 3 already. There are now over 90 updates at 190MB+, granted not all are critical. Takes a while to download even with a broadband connection.

Overall Review: Not sure why others are giving low rating for the upgrade they are not rating the upgrade. If you want vista, buy vista. I didn't care about the upgrade as it is probably full of bugs anyway just as XP was when it first came out.

Update from very first review on this product

Lexar JumpDrive Secure II Plus 8GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable) Model JDSEP8GB-431
Lexar JumpDrive Secure II Plus 8GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable) Model JDSEP8GB-431

Pros: This is an update from the review I wrote when I first got this flash drive. It was extremely nice to be able to carry only one flash drive in my pocket istead of 3-2GB drives. Hoever, in the last month, every time I would plug the drive in, it didn't matter what computer, I would get the "This device can perform faster in a USB 2.0 port" message. At first I thought it might have been a Windows update for XP, but I plugged it into my Vista Business laptop and get the same message. Like I said, it didn't matter what Windows computer I plugged it into. At first, I was just annoyed because I didn't see a performance drop, but then I saw it. Transfering 1.12GB took 75+ minutes to my desktop. So I contacted Lexar Tech Support. They told me to shut off the USB error reporting in the Device Manager. THis flash drive, according to thier website has a 2 year warranty, of which it still has another year. I popped the case apart and found a solder joint was broken from the PCB.

Cons: I contacted Lexar Tech Support again and told them about the broken solder joint and asked for an RMA to send it in for warranty repair. They told me that I can take it to any electronics shop and get the solder joint fixed. Then they said that if I wanted to send it in, it would take 14-21 days for the RMA process, but provided no RMA number. So, I fixed the solder joint myself and the message went away...for two days. Now it is back. I checked the solder joint and all other joints on the PCB, but everything looks and feels solid. I'm affraid that it has come to the end of it's useful life. So it looks like I will be buying a new flash drive to use while this one gets sent into Lexar. Maybe I'll try another manufacturer this time.

Overall Review: On the other hand, the cap still fits as tight now as it did when I got it and I use it A LOT.

Cool Picture and Great Feel - Remove plastic film from back of pad for it to stay in place

SAPPHIRE Gift - Mouse Pad
SAPPHIRE Gift - Mouse Pad

Pros: Large. Stays in one place if you remove the plastic film form the back of the mouse pad. I particularly like the feel of it. It works well with my Logitech MX700 Wireless Optical Mouse.

Cons: The only con I could think of is that it is thinner than I am used to, but it was free with the video card I ordered, so I'm not complaining.

MSI Radeon HD 2600PRO 256MB GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card RX2600Pro-T2D256E
MSI Radeon HD 2600PRO 256MB GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card RX2600Pro-T2D256E

Pros: See Below.

Cons: See Below.

Overall Review: RMAed to MSI on 7/10/2008. Recieved back from MSI on 7/24/2008. The card does work with DVI-D now, BUT the video only comes up when Windows has fully loaded and the login screen comes up. I tested this card in an MSI K9A-Platinum system board running an AMD Athlon64 x2 4200+, 2 GB Mushkin Enhanced HP2-6400 memory and a Hyper 550W power supply and a Hanns-G HW223D 22" LCD display. While waiting for the RMA to return, I bought a Sapphire Toxic Radeon HD 3870 to replace the Sapphire Radeon x1950GT I put in the computer this MSI card was supposed to go into and both Sapphire cards run perfectly. I have never had a bad card from Sapphire. I would avoid this card unless you are still using an analog VGA LCD/CRT display. If this card did not have a rebate and a free game with it, I would not have even concidered it. I just hope I get my rebate now to pay for the shipping costs of the RMA.

Solid PSU

Rosewill RP500-2 500W ATX12V v2.01 Power Supply
Rosewill RP500-2 500W ATX12V v2.01 Power Supply

Pros: Good price. Solid performance. Lots of connectors.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: If you're looking for a stable resonably priced power supply, this is the one. I didn't even realize it had a blue LED fan in it. A little extra bonus, but it won't be seen anyway.

If it weren't for the free game..

MSI Radeon HD 2600PRO 256MB GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card RX2600Pro-T2D256E
MSI Radeon HD 2600PRO 256MB GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card RX2600Pro-T2D256E

Pros: Video card came with a free copy of The Witcher (which I was going to buy anyway) and a $25 mail-in rebate so I sort of made money on the deal.

Cons: Only analog video output would work. Nothing coming onto screen when using DVI cables. Tried two different monitors and installed in in two different computers, one of which is running a Sapphire X1950PRO with no problems. Had to send it into MSI for repair since I had already cut the UPC sticker out of the box, so no RMA to Newegg, which is fine.. Just wanted to use it to connect to a 42" Plasma display in the lobby of our office.

Overall Review: I work for a computer repair/sales company and build systems that I sell on the side. This card may have also damaged the 42" Plasma display as the DVI input does not work any more. Or it could just be that since it is a $amsung, it is expected to break after only a week. (Warranty repair for this is a whole other mess.) Should have stuck with Sapphire. Never had a problem with thier video cards. MSI system boards are great, but not this video card. Newegg is the best place for hardware and prices on the web.
