Lenovo Laptop IdeaPad Intel Core i3-2330M 4GB Memory 500GB HDD AMD Radeon HD 6470M 14.0" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit U400 (099328U)
Lenovo Laptop IdeaPad Intel Core i3-2330M 4GB Memory 500GB HDD AMD Radeon HD 6470M 14.0" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit U400 (099328U)

Pros: -i3 more than enough for most games. -overall build quality is good. -screen has good contrast, adequate brightness. -keyboard is excellent, no flex. -touch pad is large and made of glass -slot-loading optical drive. -speakers can fill a room. -amd gpu will play most modern titles at (1280x720, NO AA) with no lag. -runs cool with little fan noise,no vents on bottom. -boots faster than my previous laptop (i5,7200rpm drive) after running bundled EE boot optimizer.

Cons: -touchpad has awful palm rejection out of the box, but works well with the right drivers. -good luck trying to remove the back plate without breaking any of the clips that hold it in place. -battery life is SO-SO.

Overall Review: fast shipping, second laptop purchased from newegg.

STAY VERY FAR AWAY

DELL Laptop XPS Intel Core i7-3632QM 8GB Memory 750GB HDD 32 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M 15.6" Windows 8 XPS 15 (XPS15-9062sLV)
DELL Laptop XPS Intel Core i7-3632QM 8GB Memory 750GB HDD 32 GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M 15.6" Windows 8 XPS 15 (XPS15-9062sLV)

Pros: -Overall good build quality -Screen has excellent contrast -No flex in lid or keyboard

Cons: -CPU/GPU throttles when you need it most -WiFi signal inconstant -Gets extremely hot -Cooling fan blows heat towards screen, causing discoloration.

Overall Review: Throttling issue is still not fixed and it will not be fixed until Dell rehashes the design to allow proper cooling and ventilation. I have gone through 3 different Dell XPS 15s that have ALL experienced throttling issues. My roommates two year old Dell Studio XPS has throttling issues. Silly me to think Dell would address this issue after 2 YEARS of customer complaints and feedback.

For the sale price you better buy 3.

Klipsch White IMAGE S4-WHITE 3.5mm Connector In Ear Headphone

Pros: Really love these headphones. Excellent build quality, excellent all around sound. Cord is just the right length and it comes with 4 different tips for the perfect fit. Amazing bang for your buck.

Cons: Cord carries a lot of noise, can get annoying if you move around a lot. Also, it might just be me, but they get uncomfortable after 15-30 minutes. I feel like I constantly have to adjust them. Not going to knock an egg off for that though.

Overall Review: Can't beat the sound for the price, even at full price.

Best laptop I've ever owned, and I've owned A LOT.

Acer TimelineU M5-481TG-6814 14" Ultrabook
Acer TimelineU M5-481TG-6814 14" Ultrabook

Pros: Where to begin I don't even know. -Ivy Bridge i5 -Kepler graphics -Backlit keyboard -LG Shuriken display (thin bezel and very bright) -Dolby sound that can fill a room -20 GB solid state cache -6 hour battery life -0.81 inches thin -AND a CD drive all at $780? Absolutely incredible.

Cons: -Screen is bright, but viewing angles and contrast could be better. -Build quality is middling -Ports on backside, but I understand why.

Overall Review: Absolutely amazing value. You don't realize how thin and light this thing is until you pick it up. Screen is bright and speakers are loud, Ivy Bridge and Nvidia Kepler graphics absolutely soar through any game you throw at it. Skyrim played at Native res. (1366x768, High Quality, 8X AA, 8X Anti-Aliasing) at a steady 35-40 FPS buttery smooth. I did experience some very slight throttling playing CS:GO after a couple of hours but it subsided fairly quickly. Boot-up times averaged ~20 seconds due to the 20GB solid state cache. Does get hot during gaming between the Pause Break and Ins Keys, but it wont burn a hole in your desk. The keyboard is full-sized and the back-lighting is adequate. Keys have good travel and virtually no flex. My model (which I did not buy off Newegg) featured an ELAN trackpad. Gestures are extremely responsive and two finger scrolling is the best I've ever used on a Windows PC. TL;DR: Buy 2.

Lenovo Laptop IdeaPad Intel Core i3-2330M 4GB Memory 500GB HDD AMD Radeon HD 6470M 14.0" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit U400 (099328U)

Pros: -Laptop is gorgeous. -Build quality is excellent -Screen is bright and colors are fairly vibrant for a 800 dollar laptop -Keyboard is sturdy with no flex -Trackpad is a generous size, and made of glass -No vents on bottom, stays cool on lap. -Plays most modern games at medium settings, native resolution. (1366x768, NO AA) -Speakers are excellent, sound will fill a room. -EE Optimizer (Fast boot) -GPU is actually Radeon HD 7450

Cons: -Eject button not working, might have been a driver i uninstalled. -Initial palm rejection of trackpad is not good. (CYPRESS) -2 Finger Scroll is mediocre. -Switchable graphics are finicky, and require some tweaking. -Battery life is average.

Overall Review: Love the design, quality of the screen, and gaming performance. Best built laptop you can get for 500 dollars right now.
