- Pros: Despite being a TN panel, this screen is very clear, with bright colors and good contrast. There's no light bleeding around the outside edges at all. I use this for both my Xbox 360 and my PC, with the PC hooked up to the VGA input and the Xbox hooked up via HDMI. While it would be nice to have more than one HDMI or an extra DVI connection, I still get a good analog picture through the VGA cable at 1920x1200.
While the trend has been to equip all the new LCD's with glossy screens, this screen has the older style matte finish. The glossy screens always look great at the store in person, but once you get them home and see how much glare they pick up, they don't seem like such a great idea. I have this screen next to a window that the sun shines in all day and have absolutely no glare on the screen at all on the brightest days.
A full 26 inches of glory for a reasonable price is a great deal. It's perfect for gaming, sound production, video production, and watching movies.
- Cons: The buttons on the side are terribly placed. I found that half the time I tried to switch inputs to play my Xbox that I would hit the power button instead. I got used to where they were after a while but I'm still aggravated by it.
The built-in speakers are worthless. Unless you're using them for for basic Windows use, you're better off ignoring the fact that they're even there. Then again, most built-in speakers are worthless.
- Other Thoughts: I picked this monitor up for $320 after tax when it retailed for $499.99 over a dispute with my experience at Best Buy. I wouldn't pay over $400 for this particular screen, but anything less than that I'd consider to be a good deal.
nice
- Pros: looks good off or on. easy to set up. just pluged in and it worked. have not had one issue with it. got it from a different site for 349.99 after 50.00 MIR
- Cons: i dont see any cons so far with it but it does sound some just done know how to work a monitor.
- Other Thoughts: if your thinking about getting it. just get it. you will be happy.
DOA
- Pros: It looks pretty when its off. Good thing New Egg lets you return this for a replacement.
- Cons: The Unit arrived in a non-functional state. It appeared to have been returned once. The serial number was 524DB74500508. Using a Mac Powerbook 1.25Ghz, and the DVI to HDMI connector there was no signal. With the VGA cable, it would briefly flash on when the Detect monoitor command was activated but wouldn' stay on more than 0.3 seconds. My Dell laptop wouldn't connect with it either. The monitors built in menu wouldn't display, then I realized with a lot of light on the unit, a ghost of an image like a black and white LCD image on an old palm pilot would appear, but was unreadable. Clearly there was something profoundly wrong with it. The manual is TERRIBLE in all five languages. It's very hard to disassemble the base if you need to return it. If I could switch brands I would. I alm especially irritated it seems previously opened. If you get a DOA one, check the serial number with the one posted here.
- Other Thoughts: Very poor is not low enough. There should be a DOA or non-functional rating too. Very poor implys it works a little, just very shoddy. This didn't work at all. The only bright spot appears to be I can get another one, lets hope that isn't messed up too. Unfortunately I can't get a different brand. I never want a westinghouse again.
