1 out of 5 eggsBad customer service

Pros: Nothing special to write except it's fast enough to play games on.

Cons: The customer support are horrible. The laptop broke down after two days of using it, so I sent it back. Guess what, it took a month for me to get the laptop back, because some incompetent employee got my laptop switched with some old laptop.

The battery only last about 2 hours max. The laptop usually overheat if you leave it on for more than 4 hours. You'll pay about $100 more for electricity just for using this.

3 out of 5 eggsdont buy

Pros: very fast and solid. Good processor and RAM and Harddrive.

Cons: If you get the version with windows XP x64bit version like i did, you are about to become very frustrated. Nothing it compatible with it and it crashes when you put a load on it. My screen ripped also and cost $xxx to replace. I have heard of other such incidents.

Other Thoughts: Get the 50005, I own one now and it is incredible!

5 out of 5 eggsBest Lap top ever

Pros: This is my 2nd Acer Laptop. I got the lap top back in Feb 06. The screen had been damaged in shiping the customer services at New Egg sucks... After fighting with them for well over a month I finaly got a replacement... I had one problem with the CD drive losing it drivers... I called Acer and the customer serives there was great they told me how to fix the problem and walk me step by step... Have had no problems with it since...

Cons: The top gets dirty and so dose the key board... I also got a few scraces...

Other Thoughts: I tell everyone I know not only to get a Acer laptop but get the Ferrari...

2 out of 5 eggsFerrari in shop again

Pros: This is a full featured desktop replacement that has great ports, DVI, Bluetooth, card reader, and pretty screen. Keyboard angle is nice too. AMD 64-bit. No Intel components. Stylish.

Cons: There is something flawed with this machine in its basic design which seems to send a lot of these units back to the shop. I have shipped mine in three times, each time to come back (from the very courteous depot) without a real fix. Blue screen of death. Bad mboard. Bad video card. Acer backup restore feature not functioning. You name it, it goes wrong. Just like a real Ferrari.

Other Thoughts: Maybe the other Acers without the fancy case are better, like the equivalent TravelMate. I really want to love this tempremental machine, but it is not loving me back.

3 out of 5 eggsBroke down after 2 Months

Pros: Nice lapto and very powerful. Worked flawlessly for two months.

Cons: After running the computer for two month, the computer began to experience video problems then the computer crashed. Sent it back to Acer for repair and acer said they replaced the motherboard and power controller, but the problem still occurred. Sent it back again and waiting for it to return again.

Other Thoughts: Nice laptop, but a co-worker bought the same exact laptop model one week before I did and his failed exactly the same way as mine one week before mine failed. It looks like this laptop has hardware issues.

3 out of 5 eggsKeep looking

Pros: Let me be frank. This is a nice computer. But, not nice enough for the pricetag. As far as its pros go:
1. It looks sharp.
2. It is thin.
3. Built in Bluetooth.
4. Built in WiFi.
5. Card reader and expansion port.
6. Open door CD-DVD reader/writer.

Cons: For all its pros, I would not purchase this computer again. I am writing the review on this very laptop. CON NUMBER 1...My bloody hands are sweating. Truly, They are sweating. The laptop gets incredibly hot. This causes the performance to degrade a great deal. I went so far as to by a laptop cooler stand. It helped, but not enough to make any real difference. Secondly, the memory is not nearly sufficient. I thought for sure that 1 gig would be plenty... its not. Applications will not only stutter... they will freeze.

Furthermore, the operating system, xp64 bit, is really sorry. I feel like Microsoft just up and said one day "Huh, we have made an operating system in a while, lets make a really buggy one and put it on new computer". Seriously, It's sorry. If for whatever reason you decide to buy this laptop, reinstall regular XP.

Other Thoughts: The computer is simply not worth the price. As much as I respect NEWEGG for normally superior products, this one fails to make the grade. It reminds me of a designer label. Most of the time your just paying for a label, with this laptop, thats really all your getting.

p.s. I didn't want to bash the computer, so I gave it almost a month before I decided to write this review.

4 out of 5 eggsMy Review of the Ferrari "4005" series

Pros: Have the 4005 Version. same as 4006 except i have 2.0ghz/100gb/xp media center 2005.

Awesome laptop. everyone compliments on the design. Pretty sleek, never runs out of style. FAST!! runs all my pc games up to date. BF2/ NFS underground at decent resolutions and the build quality is great! Best laptop ever owned. better than my sister's dell e1505 dual core laptop but again her's was also cost less. Screen is absolutely wonderful for my needs, and the card reader always comes in use. Bluetooth function is awesome and i can use the ferrari mouse (have NO problems w/ it whatsoever, except that it maybe not as responsive, but acceptable) and sync my motorola v3i cell phone at same time. the wireless has pretty good range! dvd burner, hah havent used it at full potential.

Cons: The lid scratches easily if you dont take care of it, The screen ripples if you press down on the lid (compare to my sister's dell e1505 it solid as a rock), i question sometimes about the vailidity of carbon fiber use? it looks GREAT but is it real? The rubber texture around the keyboard can be annoying at times. it traces all your hand prints, and can get dirty easily. when i got the laptop outta the box, the dvdrw didnt function correctly.

Other Thoughts: Acer Customer Service is SUPERB! i had to send in my ferrari two times during my course of ownership. BOTH TIMES excellent service. Paid shipping both ways, just keep ur box to send it in. Got back within 2weeks/ turn around time. Listened to all my problems and replaced everything at request (even the battery, lcd lid because it had scratches). so very satisfied w/ the ownership/ value wise. i am thinking of even getting the extended acer warranty.

5 out of 5 eggsSome Weirdness but nice machine

Pros: Very fast, great feel, bluetooth great as long as you keep the mouse charged, 1600x1000 very nice to use though have to play with fonts for best look. have xp-64 on my desktop so this makes it a matched set. Running doom3 at 1600x1200 ultrarez with only a little choppiness is very very cool.

Cons: The 5-in-one slot doesn't include CF... very very strange and annoying, since I now have to keep a separate reader for my D70 cards. Acer installed XP-64 on FAT32 with two partitions... that's just soooo incredibly wrong. Unluckily I didn't notice until I was showing it off at work, ooo faux paux. Dropped the extra partition, converted to ntfs, partition-magicked it to the correct size so I have 110G on the drive now, as I should. It also seems a little odd that there's no 2G ram option, I would have spent the extra 100 or 200$ for that now, acer/newegg guys. I'm sorry but the ferrari stuff is somewhat silly; unless they offered something useful under the logo I think it was a waste of licensing money. It just doesn't show value in any way. It'd be sort of like slapping a Gucci sticker on it with silver and gold case and matching lipstick. But oh well.

Other Thoughts: I like the design and components, just very very odd choices on a few things, almost like acer didn't understand that XP-64 isn't a low-end operating system like windows 98. The missing CF is just weird. I will continue playing with it to see if anything else is strange but I like it so far.

5 out of 5 eggsOne Sweet Machine

Pros: Ok, this is a gamers dream! It runs all the high-end games I have thrown at it, HL2 is beautiful, World of Warcraft runs perfect. BattleField 2 is sweet and looks great. Beautiful display

Cons: It gets warm... not hot, but warm, and the lcd does have tearing issues. the onboard audio is terrible, but so is all onboard audio, and the bluetooth mouse is a wall ornament.

Other Thoughts: When you buy this laptop, get this a sound blaster audigy 2 zs pcmcia card and get gaming, also great for typing.

5 out of 5 eggsFreaking sweet

Pros: Looks great, no non-sense. The Ferrari symbols actually look like they belong on this notebook. It's fast and gamer friendly. I can play Battlefield 2 with the settings on medium with no problems (haven't tried high yet). World of Warcraft with everything on high at 1200x768. Works great with 2D Autodesk Land Desktop as well. It's pretty quiet. After looking at all the options, the CPU, RAM amount and Speed, The GPU, Bluetooth, Wireless, The usb ports (placed and spaced excellently, i might add) you really can't beat this for the price.

Cons: The bluetooth mouse isn't that great. It's really jumpy. I bought a different one and I'm glad I did.

Other Thoughts: While this isn't built for gaming, the X700 gpu does the trick. The processor is great and all around this thing is sweet. At first, I was wary of the whole Ferrari look, but as soon as I lifted this bad boy out of the box, those worries were laid to rest. I have no hesitations, I would buy again in an instant. I'm not sure if you can exchange the gpu though. Usually only super high end notebooks allow for this. But I wouldn't worry too much. I haven't had any problems, and I myself prefer nVidia over all else. This thing rocks.
