5 out of 5 eggsgreat for the price

Pros: Has all the features that you could want for a cheap price.

Cons: NASCAR logos and theme, but that's easy to remove.

Other Thoughts: Added another 512mb of RAM and now it really goes.

5 out of 5 eggsTerrific value!

Pros: Terrific hardware specs for the price. Once you remove the checkered flag / NASCAR stickers, and revert back to the regular Windows XP theme this laptop is perfectly fine. It come with very little bundled software (a good thing) and what does come with it is decent (an almost full copy of Nero).

Cons: Battery life is a little less than desirable, most likely due to the Turion processor. Intel tends to be able to conserve more energy with their mobile processors.
The copy of Nero does not include Nero Burning ROM. You can only use Nero Express. This is probably a non-issue for most people.

Other Thoughts: I'm a computer technician, and I recommend products to my clients all the time. I feel sorry for those that I've previously recommended relatively inexpensive name brand laptops to. Had this laptop been around earlier, I could have a bunch of people a lot of money. This is a terrific buy. From someone who prefers desktops to laptops, I'm finding my high praise of this laptop surprising.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Wasn't sure for the price!!! But it's great.... Has all the bells and whistles that I need.... AMD processor moves along real sweet! Computer design and case are cool!

Cons: Yes...... removed NSCAR stickers ... theme and corny software. Now it's just fine.

Other Thoughts: One of my neighbors saw computer and I ordered one for him!!

4 out of 5 eggsReally nice for the money

Pros: Nice laptop nice price!!!

Cons: cooling vents on the bottom, not real good if not on a flat surface but that is really no big deal.

Other Thoughts: I purchased two Sony VAIO laptops in 2006. If I had found this deal I would have gotten two of these in stead. They are half the cost and have all the features of the Sonys.
I got two of these for both my teenage sons at christmas. I`m very happy with them.

4 out of 5 eggssome more stuff (sorry)

Pros: Cheapest laptop I could find with a widescreen and a DVD burner. Actually pretty decent design.

Cons: like I said, it's been giving me some grief. And if something goes wrong, you'll want to know how to fix it yourself considering the lack of real tech-support.

Other Thoughts: Accessing the RAM: (for memory upgrades, troubleshooting, etc) Pop out the panel above the keyboard (take the battery out and you'll see how you can get it most of the way detached), slide the keyboard up and out of the way. The two scr3wed down panels underneath are each covering a RAM slot.

Catalyst program won't actually change the video memory settings. You need to make the adjustment using BIOS.

Fan and Heatsink seem kind of ghetto, but efficient. Comes already pasted to the CPU.

1 out of 5 eggsReal headache.

Pros: It's a lot of good stuff in a laptop for what I paid. DVD-DL burner with Light Scribe (LS software is installed but I haven't used it to see if it works). Up to 128 MB shared video memory. Definitely a step up from my last bargain laptop.

Cons: Issues with standby/hibernation. Wouldn't start up the day after I received it. Had to remove the ram and reseat it to get it working again (not the first thing I checked; I basically tore the whole thing apart piece by piece to figure out what the problem was).

Seems top-heavy compared to my last laptop; easier for it to get knocked over. This happened the second day I had it and I had to repair/reconstruct the tip on the ac adapter.

User's manual is a pdf file on the desktop. Not helpful any time you might actually want to read the manual (in other words your computer is probably working just fine if you're able to access the manual).

Other Thoughts: I guess I'm pretty happy with it right now, but in the last 3 days I've had more than a couple occasions where it left me convinced it was irreparably broken. I would think twice about buying this laptop unless you've got skills/experience fixing laptops before.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent buy for the quality and price

Pros: It has everything I needed t run my intended applications, and I have not have any problems with this laptop.

Cons: The NASCAR logo that is glued on the surface is a bit funny, and at the same time irritating to me :) I would rather just have a small logo pasted somewhere on the surface instead of taking over just about the whole surface!

5 out of 5 eggsI Love It!

Pros: Excellent value considering the processor used, memory and DVD/CD burner. Better than average for sure! NASCAR Theme easily turned off if you don't like it. (I do!)

Cons: Mine has the glossy screen. Ordered another one for a friend of mine and it has the non-glare screen. Wish mine did. Other than that both are the same. Can't think of any other cons at the moment.

Other Thoughts: Compare to other notebooks/laptops in this price range and I think you will come back to this one.

5 out of 5 eggsRight on the money

Pros: No need to Spell out the specs. We all know its a decent one for Oldfarts or newbie alike.Bottom line is it works/great.BUY IT you wont regret it, Alot of room for upgrades.Forget about the fancier ones cost $$ more.

Cons: Thinking it comes with VISTA?-DREAM ON.(ask for the coupon.
Bat. drains fast less that 2 hrs. Volume control-stone age.(nothing major)

Other Thoughts: I cant complain got it for free.Use credit to your advantage.Pile up those cash back for everyday expenses then use it when you find great value offers like this.Rather than buying a stand alone auto GPS which cost almost the same or more,Might as well buy a laptop and MS steet and trips.Heck you can do more with a loptop than just a GPS.

3 out of 5 eggsCustomer Service Bomb!

Pros: Price and Newegg shipping. Brand name components (Fujitsu HD, NEC DVD/RW, Broadcom wireless). Decent speed after reformatting and partitioning hard drive. HD is very very quiet and I have not had the overheating problem experienced by one of the reviewers prior. In fact, compared to my COMPAQ 2100US it runs very cool. Graphics are good (see more below).

Cons: Customer service. Site claims the company no longer supports my serial number so I was unable to even get to the drivers. Updated drivers for Broadcom BCM94318MPG are not to be found on the Broadcom site either. Had to search for those. No answer to queries per e-mail. I am now preparing for problems with my rebate, but hoping for the best. Owner's Manual is totally useless. The wireless card had to be pulled and reseated which meant pulling the back panel off. 8 extremely small screws involved there (nothing terrible), would've been nice to have the screws that do not come out all the way thereby reducing risk of losing or dropping into machine. Touchpad does not have a scroll bar. Not a biggie, but once you've had one, you'll miss it!

Other Thoughts: Overall a good computer for the components it comes with. Hitting F2 will take you into the SETUP menu during bootup and you can set the wireless to default to "on" vice the system default which is "off". Also, you can change the amount of RAM used by the video under the SETUP from system defualt of "64mb" to its full "128mb" capacity. I plan on upgrading my RAM to 1gb (another adventure from what I've read here), so the extra video boost should not hurt my performance in the long run.
