Most Critical Review

Hardware/OS compatibility no bueno

ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS Z97-A LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: The BIOS is shiny. The feature set is nice (I mean, heck yes to Intel Gigabit for a desktop motherboard, especially when the P6T-WS has Realtek Gigabit -_-...).

Cons: I bought this as a replacement for my ASUS P6T-WS motherboard (yes, Nehalem to Haswell is a big jump). I had just my LSI 9240-4i card plugged in. The motherboard would not boot for love nor money on FreeBSD 9.3+ or CentOS Linux 7.1, even after I upgraded the firmware on the LSI controller and the motherboard and tweaked all the settings/PCI-E placement, etc (search for "mfi timeouts at boot on ASUS Z97 motherboard with LSI 9240-4i freebsd-current"). Contacted ASUS support and I was given the "compatibility sheet" for the motherboard (search for "Z97 device report pdf"). Usually I take these things with a grain of salt, but it seems like hardware compatibility has become more stringent with some of their ASUS's new offerings -- in particular with the desktop offerings.

Overall Review: I'm going to purchase an Intel motherboard to replace this because I was told it works with my RAID card.
