This review is from: Seagate ST5000DM000 5TB 128MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Pros: Stuck it in a NAS unit as a RAID drive. Worked great for a few weeks. The NAS is used to back file onto. Used 2 or 3 times a week.
Cons: Worked great for about 30 days then died when writing to the drive.
Other Thoughts: I been using Seagate for the last 4 or 5 years, never had a bad one. But now I got a bad one.
Big question is do I have to eat this thing or will NewEgg stand behind what they sell on their website.
This review is from: Wanscam 1.0 Megapixel H.264 P2P Security Surveillance Internet CCTV Network Camera 720P HD Outdoor Waterproof Dome Camera Pan Tilt IR Cut Day/Night Vision 1MP Wifi IP Camera Wireless Motion Detection
Pros: Seems to be weather proof. Works with Android phone and Tablet.
Night IR is good but center to the right of the 640x480 display.
Cons: Has no better video quality than the cheap $30 to $40 cams I already own. The image is not HD in any way, shape or form. Can't read the plate number on my car 30 feet away. When using this supplied software with a browser on my PC's the best I can get is 640x480 display. Only on Android can I get 1280x720 display but it's still not HD. The active X modes don't work regardless of how many times you load them. Doesn't display video on IE or Google Browser.. Will display VGA quality with Firefox in Server Push Mode.
Edit: (May 2016) One other thing. This camera is advertised as a PTZ camera. It is NOT. It does not ZOOM. That is what the "Z" in PTZ states for. Had to disreguard (toss/ get rid of) the clear dome over the lens, it had to many blurred spots making things out of focus.
Other Thoughts: This camera is $100 over priced. I get the same results with $39 PTZ camera's I own. On the web page it said 5 to 18 days shipping. It took 31 days. Camera was loose in the housing. Spots on the inside of the weather doom also degrades the video quality.
Camera might be out of focus but no focus controls.
This review is from: Synology DS1815+ Diskless System Network Storage
Pros: It's quite, no fan noise. With Link Aggregation I am getting just over 100MBps on a a 1GB LAN.
You can set up many volumes on the hard drives to use for different projects. Many apps, like video, music and photo folders. I also use it as a email server. Daily backup works great to USB drives. Can start with a couple hard drives and add more as your needs grow.
Cons: Not many, it wasn't free.
Other Thoughts: I have two other Synology NAS devices, DS413j and a DS1813+. I set this one up for my son to edit/create video shows using AVID. They say AVID won't work with this type of server but with careful project management it does work. Just setup projects, media folder and other data in their own folders and MAP them with a drive letter. Avid has no trouble going to the mapped drive and using it. So far two different users are using the server and getting 100MBps connection using a smart switch and Link Aggregation.
For the price a outstanding buy for video rendering and creation.
