In a Dell Inspiron 531

hec ACE-580UB 580 W ATX12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Power Supply
hec ACE-580UB 580 W ATX12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Power Supply

Pros: I E-mailed Dell about upgrading my PSU and was told that only a Dell replacement would work with my unit. Not true-this PSU works beautifully! Quiet, and very solid. Installed easily, and plenty of connectors. Wires are nicely wrapped in black mesh. Blue LED's are a nice accent. The dual fans seem to provide plenty of airflow. My case is now cool to the touch. With the stock 300W unit the case was always warm. If your Dell was made between 1997 and 2002 (?), I understand that Dell was using "proprietary" PSU's and MOBO's, and you could fry one or both by installing a "standard" unit-either a PSU or MOBO. With my 2008 Inspiron 531 there were no problems, and I think this is a great power unit at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend it.

Cons: Lots of very stiff wires. In a midsize case, handling them can be problematic, but it can be done without compromising airflow with a little planning. The two included velcro ties are really helpful!

Overall Review: If you need to upgrade your power supply, this is a very solid unit with all the connectors most people will need. Quiet and effecient. Don't hesitate to get one!

Tek Republic TUS-200 2 PC to 1 USB Sharing Switch box between two computers with 2 x 6 ft usb 2.0 A/B Cable

Pros: None

Cons: Came Dead On Arrival. Not worth sending it back. Just threw it in the trash. Don't waste your money!

Overall Review: The first disappointing thing I've ever bought from Newegg!

Best one yet

TaoTronics TT-BH01 Rechargeable Wireless Bluetooth Headset with Microphone
TaoTronics TT-BH01 Rechargeable Wireless Bluetooth Headset with Microphone

Pros: Paired easily with my Motorola RAZR, and the sound is crystal clear on both ends of the conversation. Far better than my Plan***nics. I live in a marginal coverage area, and so far not a single call has dropped, even in a two hour call.

Cons: It was out of stock at NewEgg when I went to order it so I had to order from Am**on for a couple of bucks more. The USB charger cable is just a bit too short, so I ordered an extension. That should solve the problem.

Overall Review: I'm totally happy with this headset, and I'd definitely order it again. The quality is far higher than the price. This one is a keeper!

BEST DATA MACH2PCI Modem 56Kbps PCI V.90 and earlier ITU standards
BEST DATA MACH2PCI Modem 56Kbps PCI V.90 and earlier ITU standards

Pros: Fits in a PCI expansion slot. Works.

Cons: Infuriatingly and excruciatingly slow! Takes 5-7 minutes to open a web site for example. Two minutes to change pages!

Overall Review: It does work, but slowly. Avoid it. There are much better options available.

Elegant

HP 2709m 27" HDMI Full HD 1080P Widescreen 16:9 LCD Monitor w/ swivel adjustment 400 cd/m2 DC 30000:1(1000:1)Built in Speakers
HP 2709m 27" HDMI Full HD 1080P Widescreen 16:9 LCD Monitor w/ swivel adjustment 400 cd/m2 DC 30000:1(1000:1)Built in Speakers

Pros: A beautiful monitor both technically and ascetically. Mine arrived from HP in perfect working order with no dead or stuck pixels. The picture is stunning. Very black blacks and very white whites. You'll almost certainly have to adjust the contrast and brightness. Out of the box it will almost be blinding. Easy to do with the OSD. For me the controls are almost intuitive, and very easy to navigate. I have no issues with light leaking at the top or bottom of the screen. I've noticed no "washed out" appearance to the colors in games, movies, or on A*L. Text is sharp and clear. It is a really elegant looking monitor. It has a shiny piano black bezel which is raised about 1/4 inch from the monitor case. There's silver trim around the edge. The power on light is pale blue, changing to pale yellow in sleep mode. The light can be turned on and off. The stand is metal, and very sturdy. I highly recommend this monitor because of it's very high quality as well as its' beauty.

Cons: It is not VESA 100X100mm. It is VESA 200X100mm, and the mounting area is recessed. This makes it very difficult to find an adapter plate which will work. A previous reviewer mentioned an adapter he (?) found but didn't give the manufacturer or dealer. The problem is with the rounded corners of the recessed area of the VESA mounting screw holes. HP should have anticipated this problem and either provided an optional adapter plate or made the VESA mounting area flush with the back of the monitor body rather than recessed. Not really a con unless you want to use a VESA mount.

Overall Review: I first thought I'd buy a 28 In. monitor from H***s G or I-**c, but the high number of bad reviews encouraged me to buy the HP 2709m. I'm happy that I traded that extra inch for much a much higher quality name brand product. More expensive (not much more really), but worth it. F.Y.I. Creative Inspire T6100 76 Watts 5.1 Speakers
Creative Inspire T6100 76 Watts 5.1 Speakers

Pros: Very good speaker system so far. It is replacing a 2.1 system which was o.k., but movies, music and games are much more dynamic now. I haven't cranked up the bass or the volume, so I don't know if it'll actually destroy apartments or drive away neighbors. For my needs, this was an excellent choice.

Cons: As others have mentioned, the cords for the back speakers are a little short, but that's easy to change, and no reason not to buy these speakers. Blue light on the R.F. satellite is very bright. Again, no reason not to buy them. It would be better to be able to attach the center speaker to the top of my flat panel, and not to have to adjust the bass by reaching under my desk and fumbling around on the sub, but these are personal preferences. I'd buy them again, and recommend them.

Overall Review: I found these on Newegg, but bought them from C*****ve after I compared cost and shipping. Of course, those numbers can change from day to day. When I decided to buy, C*****ve was a better deal!
