Dreamy Installation...
Pros: Super easy install for the AM socket motherboards. Painless, and that's why I bought it...I did not want to tear up my box just to install a new CPU fan. Works about a million times better than the stock fan. Inexpensive and a rebate on top. Why are you still reading this?
Cons: Zalman must have the heat fins manufactured at a machete plant in Manila...it seems impossible to install one of these without slicing yourself to ribbons.
Overall Review: For a new build there might be better options. I have always used Zalman...they don't die.
Nice little drive.
Pros: USB 3.0. Looks sleek. No tray. Matches the finish on my new Ultrabook. Fast. Loaded MS Office so quickly I thought something was wrong. Drive mechanism manufactured by Panasonic.
Cons: Pricey compared to 2.0.
Overall Review: Slot loading was a prerequisite. The sleek design and performance a plus.
Great card at this price
Pros: I'm trying to keep a Q6600 machine alive for another year and needed DX11 and didn't want to spend a ton of money. This little card rocks...I can play COD Ghosts just fine although the video is a little laggy. Great looking graphics and color on TF2, and runs Steam just fine. It replaced an 8800GTS card I paid $$$ for eight years ago and only scored 1/10th of a point less on Windows Experience.
Cons: You absolutely must disable/delete any legacy geforce drivers on your machine prior to installation or you will get a black screen, like I did. VGA only before installation. I also flashed my bios and had to change the graphics from "auto" to "dedicated card" in the boot menu. Pre-download the correct current driver and only install the GPU Tweak from the included disk.
Overall Review: Very impressed with the performance/price ratio.
Great Board for the $$$
Pros: Not really adept at this sort of thing...I had a buggy Abit IP-35 board that I never could update the bios to, so I got this. Used my old SLACR Q6600, and my old 8800GTS card, 8g of Adata DDR3 1333, Win 7 HP x 64, PC power 750. Boom, fired right up. I was amazed, as this was my first build and I have ten thumbs. Works great, Rock Solid. I am very happy, this Intel board is no-nonsense.
Cons: Like I said, not really adept at this sort of thing. Took me twelve hours to build, having to double check everything. The header connections gave me a big headache, as Intel has an illustrated guide to the MB. No "twenty minute build while I make dinner" here. I was flabbergasted when the thing booted up....Only thing is, I can't figure out how to get the RAM to run at 1333. Defaults to 1066. The I/O board also gave me trouble...what do you do with those little metal tabs...?
Overall Review: When the economy was better, I used to pay a friend of mine to put my builds together...Now, I have more time than money. So far this board does everything I want it to, light to medium gaming etc. Intel has a great website to upgrade the bios, chipset etc. Would reccomend.
A complete PITA. If you have ATT DSL, forget it.
Pros: I can't think of any....Oh, wait there is one...I RETURNED IT.
Cons: Where do I begin...? Modem refuses to recognize ADSL. The setup disk doesn't allow you beyond the point of where it states that you don't have a connection....even though you do. Line filters....one is included in box but setup requires (wants) you to install a line filter for every phone line in the house. Great. Sure. My wife is a Telecom Professional and we have eight phones in the house. Both ATT and Netgear tech support completely worthless, pointing fingers at one another. Netgear won't talk to you unless your DSL indicator light is lit, insisting there must be "Line Interference" on the ATT side. ATT says no support for that modem/router, but they'd be happy to make a house call...($$$), how's three weeks from now sound? Even Netgear's paid support line completely worthless. I could not understand a word from this guy through the thickest Indian Accent I have ever heard....At first I thought it was a gag. All this in spite of the "Easy Setup" and "Compatible With" propaganda.
Overall Review: RMA back to NewEgg. Two days of my life wasted trying to get this thing to work. Firmware upgrade impossible to accomplish. A frustrating waste of time and shame on Netgear to release a product that requires a team of IT pro's to install. Goodbye ATT and DSL....life is too short.
Works with Vista 64 Ultimate
Pros: Service pack 1 driver never found/recognized by Vista. I had to use the included CD driver...once connected updated D-link's latest driver. GTG
Cons: Three antenna's...come on....is that really necessary? Green LED blinks frantically, constantly...even idling. Only "see's" my home network although I know four or five others are in range from my previous wireless adapter.
Overall Review: In trying to configure a remote desktop, spare me the reviews that state "So I downloaded the latest driver etc. etc.." Oh really.... I thought we were trying to connect to the internet....
