Antec Basiq BP500U 500W Continuous Power ATX12V Version 2.01 Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible

Pros: Great PSU! 5 years and 3 CPU socket types later this power supply still works great. I got this to power my Athlon 64 socket 939 system back in the day. Nowadays its powering my Athlon X4 socket AM3 system with an HD 6850, 4 hard drives and 6 fans.

Cons: Didn't get it from Newegg. No modular? But I knew that.

Overall Review: Might replace it soon with an Antec 750 watt. I would keep this one, but with all my system overclocked adding a second video card would be out of the question. However it will probably end up powering a media machine. Here's to another 5 years.

Not what I expected.

Western Digital Scorpio Black WDBABD3200ANC-NRSN 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive Retail

Pros: Wow fast. Scored 5.9 on Windows Indexing. Replaced a tachi hard drive in my laptop with this. Average read on HDtach is 97.6mb/s for me. A nice upgrade from 42.3mb/s from the stock drive (SATA I). Also whisper quiet!

Cons: *Read other thoughts first* I actually the Caviar Blue. I wanted a 5400 rpm drive to save on the battery and to keep the temperatures down. However this 7200 rpm Black only shortens battery life by about 7 minutes and the temps are about the same as my 4 year old 5400rpm stock drive. Didn't get it from the egg

Overall Review: I actually bought a 320gb Caviar Blue at a local best/buy for the same $49 the egg wanted. I opened the box after getting home with it and to my surprise it was a Caviar Black! Western Digital added a note in the box that says "Free Hard Drive Upgrade". So I cant really complain. The date on the note is May of 2010 so I'm guessing this free upgrade is long gone.

AMD Athlon II X4 635 - Athlon II X4 Propus Quad-Core 2.9 GHz Socket AM3 95W Desktop Processor - ADX635WFGIBOX

Pros: Very nice processor for the price. It handles everything I throw at it with no complaints. Running at 3.4ghz on stock cooler with Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste. I upgraded to this from an Athlon X2 4000+ and wow. This chip brought the life out of my aging ATI 3870. With the extra muscle of this processor I can run Battlefield Badcompany 2 on high settings at 1920X1080 and the Crysis games on high at 1366x768.

Cons: No L3 cache? But I knew that going in. The performance difference is small anyway.

Overall Review: Glad to see AMD making some ground. I hope Bulldozer really does it for them. Also, kudos goes to whoever made the decision to redesign the stock heatsink. The copper heat pipes do their job well.
