Most Critical Review

Linksys not as good as it used to be.....

Linksys WRT1900AC Wireless AC Dual Band Router AC1900, Open Source ready, eSATA/ USB 3.0 Ports
Linksys WRT1900AC Wireless AC Dual Band Router AC1900, Open Source ready, eSATA/ USB 3.0 Ports

Pros: It's fast on 2.4GHz and LAN

Cons: 5GHz speed and connectivity issues

Overall Review: Bought this router to replace a D-Link Wireless-N router (DIR-855) and have been testing it extensively (multiple wireless configurations tested) and it's lacking. Everything works great except the 5GHz band, it's main selling point at $250+. I've tested multiple devices (laptop, desktop, smart phones) using N and AC adapters in different locations and can't get more than 4MBs transfer speeds locally. On the smart phone it stalls and hangs for a while before pushing through. The 2.4GHz band works flawlessly however. I've used the firmware that came pre-loaded as well as the latest official firmware without any change. I'm going to replace this router with the proven Netgear Nighthawk R7000. I used to own Linksys gear but since it's been bought by Belkin it's garbage. Look elsewhere for a good AC router. I currently own a Netgear EX6200 connected to my Old D-Link DIR-855 router. On the EX6200 and DIR-855 I can get ~30Mbs+ on the 5GHz band. The WRT1900AC can't even come close to them and combined they cost less.....
