Pros: 1. Picture: Extraorinarily crisp, everything viewed has the presence to seem to actually be within reach (realistic). 2. 3D: I was skeptical of the avertised 2D->3D, but it truly is amazing. Receiving my delivery right before NFL playoffs presented an opportunity to try this feature. The players and the ball were all presented in realistic 3D. 3. Colors: Deep, bright, and rich only touch on what is presented. See #1, without good color the realism of the images would be lacking, but accuracy is important to realism. The images from all sources have an extraordinary realism to them. 4. Contrast: Looking at the set before I powered it on the first time I was amazed at the depth of blackness that the screen presented. Watching programs, later, with people wearing black oufits it became apparent that the blackness was required, since the black outfits as presented did not lack detail, from folds, etc. The whites are astounding, and in 3D this can be a drawback.
Cons: 1. Rear mounted small speakers. Be prepared to compensate with an audio system that can compare to the picture that this set will bring.
Overall Review: There is ghosting in 3D with bright white and black in close proximity. This is not the fault of the set, but the fault of the glasses. As the shutters on the glasses improve this ghosting affect will decrease. I am extremely happy that I saw the special on this set when I did. I had been contemplating this purchase for a very long time, and the special tipped the scales.
Pros: Twisted pair, flat cable.
Cons: Flat cables need to be routed carefully to avoid obstructing airflow.
Overall Review: The termination was removable, a big plus since I needed an unterminated cable to connect to a backplane.
SCSI RAID Cage
Pros: Study sleds with full length aluminum backplate. Nice LEDs, not too bright, not too big, and green for powered up, not red as some other models.
Cons: The LEDs are on the side instead of above the drives, making identifying drives a little more difficult.
Overall Review: I had been searching for a unit like this for my SCSI RAID box for a long time. Thanks to NewEgg for having them. There are two different models, SCA and SAS, the SCA version is for an 80 pin SCSI hard drive.
Can't Rag These Motherboards
Comments: Fourth system I have designed and built using Abit's fleet. As always it went together smoothly and everything (including the sound) works perfectly. For those experiencing problems with their sound, try reducing the load on the power supplies (disconnect unnecessary hard drives, etc.) to see if that is the source of the noise problems. If it is noise on the S-PDIF, check the Abit site, they recommend some specific settings for different uses.
