Nice Board so far

MSI 785GM-E65 AM3 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
MSI 785GM-E65 AM3 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Board appears solid in construction. Was a snap to put together, and booted the first time. I've only had this board for 1 day so I will update my review after 6months to 1 year. All drivers worked with Server 2008 64bit. I think the BIOS layout is excellent.

Cons: None really so far. The backplate on the board might interfere with some high end cooling systems that require a metal backplate; but it can always be removed.

Overall Review: Running a PII 945, Mushkin 1333, 2 sata HDDs on a 380w Micro ATX power supply and win server 08. Stock voltage the board booted up at 240mhz x15multi, or 3.46ghz. I am also using the stock AMD HSF and CPU temps are 31-33c. Not using this as a gaming machine, but I did install L4D and it runs great @ 1680x1050 with high settings, and 512mmb set for sideport in the BIOS.

Solid Board

ASUS SABERTOOTH 55i LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS SABERTOOTH 55i LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: Asus makes great first impressions...let me say they always have nice boxes for their boards and this is no exception. Open it up and and you get alot of accessories and a decent instruction manual. The riser for the case leads is a nice touch that everyone should include with their boards. Bios is standard asus layout, easy to get around and a good deal of options for overclocking with automatic or manual settings. The Board itself is really solid, nice mosfets just really good build quality all around. Single ram 'lock' is nice, as is the surprisingly solid PCI-E locks. Overclocks well for novice's and extremely well when you get adjusted to the more advanced settings.

Cons: No USb3 or Sata 6Gbit/s, I can live with that for the life of this system. Down the road that could become prohibitive....but thats a good bit down the road. Limitations of the chipset running 2 video cards @ 8x pcie speeds. (not the boards fault)

Overall Review: Solid board, easily overclocked my i7 870, stable and comfortably.

Good Design.

Antec Twelve Hundred 750 Blue Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case 750W Power Supply
Antec Twelve Hundred 750 Blue Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case 750W Power Supply

Pros: After reading some of the reviews I was worried that I would receive my case in a less than pristine condition. When it arrived there was a small ding in the cardboard box, but no damage to the case or the power supply mount. If you've built computers before nothing here should come as a surprise, standard stuff full tower lots of room requires tools. The case seems to have very good air flow and cools my more than adequately, and the power supply is stout supplying more than enough power for my OC and SLI gtx460's. Its not he most efficient though, bronze 80.

Cons: -The first immediate con for me is that you have to remove both side panels and 24 thumbscrews to get at the filters in front of the 3 intake fans for cleaning...pain in the rear. -What makes that even worse is that the cable management is behind the right panel so removing that side isn't really enjoyable -Power supply isn't completely modular. Not a huge issue but some might lie to know. -Antec should really include a mount for a second 2.5" drive...the only one being on the bottom of the case I felt a litttle ripped having to but an extra $7 item for that - I mentioned the cooling is good, the fans are pretty quiet on low setting but do get VERY loud on high. Some warmer climates with loaded systems might require medium to high fan settings

Overall Review: My System Specs: i7 870 @ 3.9ghz Asus Sabretooth 55i 2xMSI GTX460 1GC (self OC'ed) 2x OCZ Vertex II 60GB ssd CoolerMaster V8 CPU cooler 4GB GSkill Ripjaw

Hesitant

Diablotek PHD Series PHD380M 380 W Micro ATX Power Supply
Diablotek PHD Series PHD380M 380 W Micro ATX Power Supply

Pros: I was very hesitant to buy this PSU at first, I generally look for a quality brand especially in the PSU department. But after scouring the net for MATX PSU's this one seemed to fit my needs perfectly and at a much better price than some others. PSU has good connectivity with 4x sata and 3x molex. Also has a 6/8pin PCI-E connecter which is a nice touch, but its only sporting 19amps so be careful what card you try to run on it. Fan is Also relatively quiet.

Cons: None at this point, fits my size and power requirement needs.

Overall Review: Again I was hesitant to purchase a 'Diablotek' PSU, but so far build quality appears good. I'll revisit this review in a years time and if all is still well, will bump to 5 eggs. System is: MSI 785GM-E65 (integrated ati 4200HD) AMD PII 545 (OC'ed to 3.6ghz) 2GB ddr3 1600 2x WD 160GB blue

Never used mushkin before!!!

Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 2GB DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model 991585
Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 2GB DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model 991585

Pros: Great ram, great price on it as well! OCed to 1600 with no voltage bumps. (could potentially go higher).

Cons: Timings are on the higher side, but it runs fine if you tighten them to 8-8-8-24

Overall Review: Never Used mushkin before, and I will not hesitate to use them now. I've normally gone with GSkill for the less expensive and OCZ for the pricey ram. Will now put Mushkin up there with them (in my book!). I'll update my review in 6 months - 1 year to see how they have held up.

great price/perf

AMD Phenom II X2 545 - Phenom II X2 Callisto Dual-Core 3.0 GHz Socket AM3 80W Processor - HDX545WFGIBOX

Pros: Using this in a server, love the potential with this CPU.

Cons: none so far, could have gotten a lower TDP cpu, but needed the extra juice.

Overall Review: Slapped right into a MSI 785GM-E65 raised the cpu/fsb to 240 no voltage changes an instant stable 3.46ghz!
