Good for mobile NLE
Pros: the reason I bought this is because it comes with dual minitor output, S-Video, composite TV output + firewire 1394 + optical digital audio out ==>> makes a good choice for none linear video editing. It's not the best but this mall pc got everything i need to do most thing other than general computer use and gaming.
Cons: not everything is perfect and Asus wants their products the same thing! Everything seem perfect except the little cheap CUP fan. It's noisy. I think the best is instead of running 1 fan at very high speed, it's better if runs 2 fans with lower speed which make is quiet and cool. Very noisy and hot. Temperature at idle about 63C and 73C at full load.
Overall Review: if other product at this price and has all futures this has and cool and quiet. I wont get this barebone.
lost all settings after power cycling
Pros: -performs well -easy setup -speed
Cons: back to factory setting after power cycling. very light, fall-off often because of the small stand supporting area.
Overall Review: made some minor changes to default ssid name and security key and it run great for over two weeks. i assumed all setting was saved but it was not the case. the router is reset back to the factory default setting after the power adapter is switch to a different outlet (unplugged and plugged right back in). in the situation that i'm away from home to do the configuration again and leaving my "guests" without internet is something left me down because of the missing that little feature of this product. if you are the next buyer and aware of it disadvantage, i do recommend you to get this router for it's cons.
no tag service. no warranty. problematic after 6 mos.
Pros: great color
Cons: my monitor quit to work properly after just 6 month
Overall Review: suddenly this lcd got "burn in" image of my chrome web browser and it stay there no matter if hdmi cable connected to my pc or not. plus flickering badly. tried to excercise my warraty claim. found out dell requires a service tag which this does not come with this monitor's purchase
not recommended for Skype users
Pros: -compact and light weight -operate 4+ hours on battery -low heat and low noise -touch screen
Cons: -the microphone is placed close to speaker - this creates a feedback sound loop problem when use Skype or other chat system. -No microphone input. -The metal cover at the back of the LCD conducts electricity when plug in to the power adapter.
expensive. not designed for quality picture or video
Pros: 2 screens, sexy look, compact, quick power up, lots of cool features, HD video
Cons: charger plug is not universal (like usb) so you have to use only cable designed for this camera. Bad power management design for example when you're shooting video and out of battery, the camera wont retract the lens before shutting down so you'll a hard time to carry around or put it in your pocket for recharge later. Filmsy. Dont buy this camera if picture quality is more important than cool features. Camera take lots of time to calculate all the cool features ie. all kind of detection and it wont release shutter until it think condition met (i dont care, i just want a pic is taken after i press that shutter. i hate it when camera wont take pic and you keep trying pressing that button. it's not about slow focus guys, it just has it own mind. you need to turn off all the features to make the pic taking quicker. not recommend if you intend to use this camera for video. after pressing recoding button, it locks the focus, with mean it wont do auto focus like regular video camera.
Overall Review: took pics for my friend's birthday and i missed lot of great shots (ie. blowing candles). it takes long time to process and reading memory (used class 6 memory). if you have little dust on your lens and fire flash when taking pic at night, you'll the dust very clearly because somehow the flash shines direct light to the len and emphasize those tinny dust. i got very very good deal from newegg so it still a good buy for me. I am not recommend you to buy this camera for picture and video.
Good but not for nightlife photography
Pros: *Powerful *Direct flash on people shows better result than older 580ex (nice skin tone, no over expose) *Better built for battery door
Cons: *AF-Assist beam somewhat lower (dimmer) than older 580ex that I have, this is major problem when I try to focus in total darkness *Hot shoe lock new design wont let me "over-tight" the flash to the camera, the flash is not tight enough to my EOS 30D camera (it may work perfect for newer cameras i guess) and it pans about 1-degree left and right (if i slightly push it by hand) which cause the AF-Assist beam stays out of center focusing point *if you often shoot with center focus point, then this flash might disappoint you.
Overall Review: I shoot photos in a night club for over 2 years with my EOS 30D, 24-105mm F4. and 580Ex. In environment where is totally dark, lots of smoke and people constantly moving, and I believe my older 580ex perform very well on focusing than 580ex II. I can see visually that the AF-assist beam of my 580ex II output lower than 580ex. I get frustrated when I CANT focus like i did with my old 580ex. I had to put it to all points focus to get it working (because both vertical and horizontal beams turned on). I am really disappointed with my new upgrade. The only thing like about this flash is that it gives a very nice skin tone on people when i shoot with direct flash in total darkness where my older 580ex gives over exposure most of the time. I hope that I got the defective unit. Otherwise, this flash is not built for my job. And that is not worth the upgrade.
