Good Value But...

Seagate BarraCuda 7200.11 ST3750330AS 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Seagate BarraCuda 7200.11 ST3750330AS 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: A 750gig drive WITH a 5 year warrentee, there are some OTHER drives out there at the same price but they only have a 3yr. warrentees. My drive is quiet and fast (after the firmware upgrade). Seagate has excellent customer care too because as you will read in the cons. My drive runs pretty cool too.

Cons: Mine came with the SD04 firmware, it was identified correctly as the right drive. I talked to Seagate to get the upgraded SD14 firmeware. There is no direct link WITHOUT an authorized certificate number. So there isn't a way you can paste a link to the updated firmware. My biggest con is, even after all that, to upgrade you have to unplug ALL other sata and almost ALL pata devices, you need at least a floppy or a cd/dvd drive to boot off of. After doing all that, it would NOT upgrade off my onboard Sil 3114 Sata chip (latest bios upgrades too)!!! I spent almost an hour with Seagate level 2 and level 3 support to get this to work, in fustration they told me use another computer to upgrade the drive!

Overall Review: Some say there was no difference between upgraded and non upgraded firmware in the drive, my numbers were as follows: 54MB/Sec average and 42/72 low/high with a burst of 74MB/sec before the firmware upgrade. After the upgrade my numbers were as follows: 83.4MB/sec average, 48/104 low high with a burst of 109MB/sec. I used HDTune for testing. I have read where others see no difference but in my case, as you can see, there was a HUGE difference. Just food for thought and I would always to the upgrade the firmware in this series of drive if you should have the older firmware.

Everything Started out good BUT..

GIGABYTE GA-F2A85X-D3H FM2 AMD A85X (Hudson D4) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
GIGABYTE GA-F2A85X-D3H FM2 AMD A85X (Hudson D4) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Pros: The mother board was inexpensive for an 8 Sata III MB with all the features it has you can read the specs to see it, no need to recap here. The board has an excellent layout and this made for an easy build and assembly. I used the cheap FM2 cpu and 16gb of Corsair ram since a NAS does not need Overclocking or more than 2 cores as far as I am concerned

Cons: 2 ports out of the 8 were giving me parity errors on Free BSD. This MB was chosen for an 8HDD using 3TB in size. I did all the trouble shooting I could and the bottom line is it really is 2 ports that are bad. I spent all that time just to find out it does not work right. I RMA'd the board for another one. While not happy about this I will try another one since the board itself is a really nice one.

Overall Review: This may or may not make a difference but the A85 Northbridge Chipset was rather warm. I am going to get a Northbridge cooler and make sure that is NOT one of the issue when I re-assemble everything. I REALLY want to this work and I usually have VERY good luck with Gigabyte

It Looks Awesome and is easy to work with!

LIAN LI PC-Z70B Black Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case
LIAN LI PC-Z70B Black Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: This case just oozes quality with no round edges and a solid feel! IT has clear instructions with a lot of options and even a tool and part case to carry your extras! You can see all the insides from the pictures and it is a true tooless case. I LIKE large and this delivers! What it comes down to is a case is a case if you like it then thats awesome!

Cons: My negatives are minor but people do need to know some things. 1. IF you have an EATX MB the rubber openings for wires are too close and you can not really use them. 2. the Hard drive bays with the built in Sata connections are ONLY Sata II and NOT Sata III, though I REALLY doubt in the real world you you will EVER see a difference but you should know anyway. 3. SOME people may want more bay openings for the 5. 1/4 slots 3 is MORE than a enough for me!

Overall Review: Other than the EATX issue I am very satisfied with the case and will NOT even knock off an Egg for the rubber grommet blockage. I bought this KNOWING that and to knock and egg off for buying something you know is an issue ahead is wrong. I bought this with all sorts of New Egg Discounts making the price $175 delivered watch out for pricing changes and sales at the same time, THEN pounce and get one!

Decent drive/Decent price

SanDisk Extreme 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SDSSDX-120G-G25
SanDisk Extreme 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SDSSDX-120G-G25

Pros: The drive itself is decent etc. Its fast it does the job. The is no real down side to the drive itself. BUT the reason I returned it has nothing do do with the drive itself as you'll read.

Cons: ScanDisk will NEVER upgrade firmware. This can be an issue down the line as a lot of other manufacturers do this as a matter of reliability. That is the SOLE reason I knocked an egg off.

Overall Review: I use my drives 24/7 and my computer never goes off. These drives often have firmware upgraded. I ended up returning for an Intel SSD 520 series because of the continuous upgrade firmware ability, because of Intel's delay of a year BEFORE issuing this drive AND the 5yr vs. 3yr. warren-tee... (at the time it has VERY small price difference too than usual Intel penalty you know...)

It works as it should!

Panasonic Wet/Dry Vacuum Nose & Ear Hair Trimmer ER430K
Panasonic Wet/Dry Vacuum Nose & Ear Hair Trimmer ER430K

Pros: 1. Its very light and uses only 1 battery 2. It comes a part easily and cleans up the same 3. It does the job

Cons: There are no REAL cons but I do have some other thoughts.

Overall Review: There is another model that has a light but no vacuum and this one has a vacuum but no light. I would have LIKED both at the same time, JUST a thought here... ALSO as it has been noted on some other reviews it DOES tickle your nose a bit with the vacuum as the nose is VERY sensitive. Its not really a con but something that may have an effect on you and you should now about!

Amazing for the price

ZALMAN Z9 Plus Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
ZALMAN Z9 Plus Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: You can tell a lot about a case with you open the box. 1. Packed well but easy to get out. 2. Everything was in a zip locked bag with each install component bagged by itself for no confusion. 3. The install book was clear, well written, and made on quality paper and not just tossed together. It comes with install tips and alternatives ways to mount different hardware. 4. The noteworthy features of the case itself are as follows: A cut out for the HSF(heastsing fan), so you can upgrade EASILY if you so desire. A bottom mounted PSU and made so ALL wires can fit and be run behind the MB tray for a SUPER clean install. The one HDD bay has a mounting tray for a 2.5" SSD AND it has room for another one to mount behind the MB! You can raid your SSDs with no addtional trays or screws RIGHT out of the box! It's 2 fan controller has a temp sensor, 4 quiet LED fans, dust filters and room to mount more.

Cons: Nothing is perfect and I have one VERY, petty con. That means it's nothing to 99% of people using this case. While made for standard ATX Motherboards, it did not have the proper MB standoff configuration for my Biostar TH67 PLUS MB. Go figure! Most of the MB holes have screws but the case does not have places to put standoffs for all my MB mounting holes! I have never seen this before and then again its NOT a big deal, just has to show this case is NOT perfect!

Overall Review: I built this for my mother. I tend to built a few computers a year and been building home machines from the last 16 or so years. I wanted a pretty, neat, and eye catching case to go with the i3 2100 build. I used a Xigmatech Gaia HSF and I am using the OB graphics. I also bought her the 4g Crucial Ballistix tracer memory that was on Shell Shocker and I am using a Corsair HX650 PSU, which is OVERKILL on this system but I LOVE Corsair PSUs and Modular ones at that, and this one has current rebate too right now (but not for long). I think she should be pretty darn happy how it looks as well as plays...
