Nice Card
Pros: Card is faster than my 5850 hands down. Obviously. Overclocks really well. 1150/1500 with slight volt bump. 1100/1400 at stock voltage. Idles around 32C and max load is around 60C.
Cons: Makes me sad that I am now putting my 5850 in the hardware museum.
Overall Review: At $220 this card is a great value. Considering picking up a second one to try a crossfire build.
Bad Luck I guess
Pros: It has all the pieces
Cons: TV is stuck at the VIZIO startup screen. Starting the RMA process.
Overall Review: I tend to stay away from refurbs, and I decided to take a chance. Wish I would have stuck with my gut.
It's Memory
Pros: It is memory. Put this in an aging Dell D620 with 1gb of ram.
Cons: A little pricey, however all DDR2 memory appears to be these days. However, the heatsinks make me feel less guilty about the purchase.
Overall Review: Added an SSD and a Core 2 Duo T7200 (bought from another site) to the D620. It is like a brand new machine. Xubuntu boots on avg in 7 seconds. With the 1gb ram, Core Duo 1.8ghz processor, and 7200 rpm HDD xubuntu loaded around 45 seconds. Huge improvement. Using the 4gb ram allows me to remove the swap space from the ssd so I can eliminate reads and writes, and hopefully add some longevity to the drive.
FAST Linux Drive
Pros: Bought this drive for an aging Dell D620. Old specs: 1.8GHz Core Duo 1GB ram 60GB 7200 rpm HDD Windows XP Pro New specs: 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo T7200 (e-bay purchase) 4 GB GSkill DDR2 667mhz (newegg purchase) This solid state drive (bought here) Xubuntu 12.04 (fast and fun little distro) Unbelievable difference in performance. Before installing the SSD, I installed xubuntu. After the BIOS splash screen, boot-up took ~45 seconds on average. Now with this little drive, boots up on average of 7 seconds.
Cons: The laptop's chipset supports SATA I. So I do not reap the full benefits of a SATA II speeds. Not Corsairs, Neweggs, or anyones fault. But it is still a con...
Overall Review: I have several OCZ drives, and they have worked flawlessly. Decided to give Corsair a shot because I have always had good luck with their products. I added discard and noatime to the fstab. I also removed the swap space so the drive doesn't get written to as often. Hence the 4gb ram upgrade.
Raid
Pros: In raid my WEI is 6.2. I almost have the impulse to purchase two more. Not nearly as old as some of my previous Raptor drives. These are the first VelociRaptors I have used.
Cons: Haven't found one yet.
Overall Review: I had originally bought one as the dual boot drive, but because of the price I decided to add a second a few months later. Almost tempted to buy 2 more and add those to the raid array. Stacked on top of one another, temps are around 20c idle and never get above 30c. That to me is the most impressive. This is inside a Lian-Li PC7-B case (not on the floor HDD slots).
Toxicity
Pros: Solid card from performance to overall design.
Cons: The packaging. Came in cardboard. I would have liked maybe a biohazard container. Day after I purchased this, I heard there was a 2GB release coming soon!!!
Overall Review: Furmark 1.8 extreme burn-in can't even phase this card and cooler. Hit 68C after an hour of furmark with the fan only pushing 44%. Maxed out the fan (which is little loud) and temps dropped to 59C within a few minutes. This is with the card overclocked to 875/1200. Plays Metro 2033 with all settings maxed plus Nvidia Physx enabled @1920x1080 without any problems.
Bad Luck I Guess
TV turned on for 5 minutes before the Vizio splash screen appeared. Now it won't go away. Starting the RMA process.
