Best Budget Navi Deck

Pioneer 4.3" In-Dash Navigation w/ CD Playback (AVIC-U310BT)
Pioneer 4.3" In-Dash Navigation w/ CD Playback (AVIC-U310BT)

Pros: This deck transformed my car. I now have bluetooth, ipod, HD Radio and navi running in the car. The BT works flawless! It feels like it made the car more modern.

Cons: Navigation sometimes looses its location. Menu is laggy sometimes. Very weak POI database. Small screen for where the deck is located. No DVD or video input.

Overall Review: For the price, it is a no brainer.

Finally impressed

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade

Pros: I performed a clean install using a 128 Gb SSD drive on my laptop and this thing flies. It is very stable and responsive. I like the fact that it has these decent widgets reinstalled so I don't have to go out searching for more.

Cons: None so far.

Overall Review: I paid $50 when NewEgg was first offering it.

Same as Far Cry

Crysis PC Game
Crysis PC Game

Pros: Works on my laptop w/ nVidia 9600 GS. Great graphics and game play. Low price and not addicting.

Cons: My brother thought I was playing Far Cry. Seems to be the same thing with the addition of a special suit.

Overall Review: Nice game overall.

Impressive Machine

ASUS Laptop M50 Series Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 4GB Memory 250GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS 15.4" Windows Vista Home Premium M50Vm-X1
ASUS Laptop M50 Series Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 4GB Memory 250GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS 15.4" Windows Vista Home Premium M50Vm-X1

Pros: Everything works fine right out of the box! You receive a large Asus box which is sealed with blue Asus tape and a small red Asus tape so you know it is factory sealed. Inside the box you find the laptop bag all wrapped in foil and another white box with the laptop inside. It is packaged very well. The computer fired right up and Vista took a while to set up and gave a 5.0 rating. Everything in Vista opens flawlessly. CPU is a new Core Duo model so I’m looking forward to testing it out. Windows says computer has 4 Gb of ram but we all know that only 3 Gb are usable. The styling is beautiful. The touchpad is AWESOME so far. It lights up in white to illuminate all the touch buttons on it; so do all the LEDs except the charging one which is orange. Looks SICK. Num pad will come in handy as well I bet. Keyboard is sturdy and I have no issues using it and I’m a average typer. Video card has the newest drivers and you have full control over settings. Its very quiet. Warranty!!!

Cons: First of all, disable the monitor light sensor. It annoyed me to an extreme as the screen was unusable in a dark room and I had no control over the brighness. Press Fn+A to disable it. I have no problem with the keyboard as everyone says but I might find it down the line when I start typing more. Again, 32-Bit Vista only uses 3 Gb or ram. No S-Video port so why in the world does the package inlude a S-Video cable? I'm dissapointed about not having the port as well but there probably is some HDMI to S-Video adapter. I installed Crisis and it gives me around 15 fps at 1024x768 at medium settings; what gives? I need to play with settings more. The screen does not lock when folded down and that could be an issue; I never seen a laptop that did that. Gets warm on the left side when running plugged in. Hard drive is actually like 225 Gb and has 2 partitions. Resolution is kinda low for and icons look big. laptop was left on my door step when no one was home; thats bad for UPS.

Overall Review: I search for a while and chose this laptop. I'd rather see a laptop in person and use it first before purchasing it but Best Buy and other stores have weak sauce computers at higher prices. I did get owned by NewEgg tho; I purchased this on Thursday night and the next day they had an Open Box item for $375 less! It did not mention warranty but thats much less! Hopefully the video card will run Crysis better as I want to ocasionally play it but this laptop won't see much gaming. This is a rig with many Inputs and Outpus except S-Video so you can hook up anything to it. Its sturdy and anyone who gets it will be satisfied. I can't wait to use it more tonight. I use a Lenovo at work and it looks and feels like a plain brick compared to this Asus. Thumbs up to Asus and NewEgg.
