Antec TRUE430 430 W ATX Power Supply
Antec TRUE430 430 W ATX Power Supply

Pros: Still going strong more than 7 years later. Powers my new ATI Radeon HD 6870 video card without a hitch.

Cons: Doesn't have the 6-pin/8-pin connectors for the most current PCI-E video cards, but that's expected.

Been OK

GIGABYTE GA-890GPA-UD3H AM3 AMD 890GX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-890GPA-UD3H AM3 AMD 890GX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Had this motherboard for about 13 months now. Has been ok paired with an Athlon II X3-455. BIOS has lots of tweaking options. Manual is fairly good English, better than most I've seen.

Cons: Every now and then the onboard video card, an ATI Radeon HD 4290, will lose the video signal and I will go to a black screen. I would say it happens every 3 days or so. Audio can be heard, and the computer still responds to keystrokes (I have now memorized the keystroke sequence to restart my computer). System errors indicate it may be a USB driver issue, but updating those drivers did not solve the problem. Also tried updating to various ATI video driver versions, but still no luck. Seems to happen a lot watching online videos such as on YouTube, so also tried updating video codec drivers, but problem persists. The inclusion of two different RAID chipset options are a bit confusing.

Pros: Has worked without a glitch for almost six years now. Great for watching TV series that are on multiple DVDs, just put five discs in and do a couch potato marathon. I like the feature where it saves your spot on a DVD...you can turn the DVD off, and next time you power it back on, it remembers where you were.

Cons: None.

IT'S BIG AND LOUD

HIS IceQ X Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card H687QN1G2M
HIS IceQ X Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card H687QN1G2M

Pros: Has worked great so far, no glitches. Paired with my Athlon II X3-455, scored 15,841 on the 3DMark2006 test. This is in comparison with the 2,315 score using the ATI Radeon HD 4290 that comes onboard my motherboard. Tried it so far with the Dirt3 game that comes with the card, as well as FIFA 12 and Split Second, works great with all.

Cons: This card is physically HUGE. Very thick, takes up two spots of the back of my case. I have an Antec Lanboy case, which is a fairly standard size. It took me a good 20 minutes of smashing my cables all to one side, unhooking and rehooking a few of them, just to get this card positioned over the PCI-E slot. The fan is pretty loud as well, it really kicked in when I was playing Dirt3. I think the fan is working pretty hard, because I can actually feel a bit of cool airflow through my front vent when it's really moving.

Overall Review: Check the dimensions of the card versus your available space in your case before buying.
