Great Little Flashllights

27-LED Superbright Worklight Flashlight with Hook Hanger and Magnet
27-LED Superbright Worklight Flashlight with Hook Hanger and Magnet

Pros: I bought 6 of these last year. I kept 3 for myself and gave the others away as stocking stuffers. The price was really cheap and I didn't have a lot of confidence that they would work that well. However, I think these flashlights are great. I put one in each of my vehicles for emergency use and I have one in my office. One of the flashlights arrived with dead batteries. I think it accidentally got turned on in shipping. Not the best packaging. Some folks have mentioned that the batteries were difficult to replace, but I found it very simple and easy. The light output is extremely bright. Don't look directly at the bulbs or you'll be seeing stars for awhile. For $3 you can't go wrong with these things. I've been using mine for over a year now with no issues. These things are very versatile and completely worth the $3 price tag. Some of the reviews complain about delivery. I can understand why that would be an aggravation. However, mine arrived within a few days. Just lucky I guess. I would recommend buying several. That way, if one arrives damaged, just toss it. For $3 it's not worth sending back.

Cons: None really.

Seagate Desktop SSHD ST1000DX001 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Solid State Hybrid Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Original cost was reasonable. Relatively quiet.

Cons: Not reliable. Very slow boot up on Windows OS. Have corrupted data on my system.

Overall Review: I have used other Seagate Hybrid drives on desktops and laptops with good success. I wanted more space, so I bought this one on sale and replaced a smaller capacity Seagate Hybrid drive. Immediately, I noticed that it took a long time for the drive to get to the Windows splash screen. My other dirves took about 15 seconds, and this drive takes 45 seconds. I changed cables, tried different motherboard channels but nothing improved. I ran the drive for several months and then I started getting corrupted files. Fortunately, I make regular backups so I took this drive out and replaced it with a WD drive that I had used in the past. The WD drive got me back to the performance that I was accustomed to. I think I just got a bad drive, but this experience makes me reluctant to try another hybrid drive from Seagate. I will be contacting Seagate about a replacement, but I'm not sure I want to use it as my primary drive due to reliability issues. I have been building and working on computers for years, and I have only had one other hard drive failure, and it was a Seagate that was DOA. I think the hybrid technology is a good idea, but with SSD prices dropping, it's probably not worth the risk of the high failure rate that these drives seem to experience.
