not too shabby

Linksys Wireless-N+RJ45 IP Camera with 1-Way Audio / Wi-Fi Protected Setup / MAX Resolution 640x480(WVC80N)
Linksys Wireless-N+RJ45 IP Camera with 1-Way Audio / Wi-Fi Protected Setup / MAX Resolution 640x480(WVC80N)

Pros: Decent image quality, small package/design, pretty good low light performance. Wired and wireless connectivity options.

Cons: A bit clunky to setup, but not difficult. The TZO Dynamic DNS restriction is pure bunk. Manual content in some areas was written by a dolt.

Overall Review: I have two of these and two trendnet wireless (512); the trendnet was easier to setup, but the image quality is lower. They are also a barrel design, which limits the mounting possibilities, while the Linksys is a donut style which can be tucked behind curtains, blinds, etc., with ease. The image quality is pretty good, fairly sharp and color accurate, while the trendnet is fuzzy and muted and cannot be accurately focused. Trendnet is easier to setup, but that doesn't really matter if the image quality is substandard. I'm going to get 2 more of these. They are currently writing to my NAS, along with my trendnet cameras; no need to flake out on motion activation, etc., as you can store the images on a NAS and delete what you don't want. There is also third party software that is very inexpensive that will index motion in your video so you only have to watch the index portion to see what was going on in the field of view.

average, but acceptable for common use

TRENDnet TV-IP512WN Built-in Microphone & Speaker, Removable 6mm, F1.8, CS Mount Lens , Micro SD Card Slot, Wireless IP Camera
TRENDnet TV-IP512WN Built-in Microphone & Speaker, Removable 6mm, F1.8, CS Mount Lens , Micro SD Card Slot, Wireless IP Camera

Pros: Relatively easy to setup; various mount options, CS Lens (can be replaced), wireless or wired. network drive/share support, can be used with PTZ mounts.

Cons: still draft N wireless; no updates for over a year; picture quality is only average in good light, completely washed out in very bright light, and very poor low light performance.

Overall Review: Ok camera, but overpriced for the performance in my opinion; no updates to ROM even though they are well aware one is in need and image quality has been suffering for a long time.

terrible order fulfillment

Visioneer Strobe 500 STROBE500-Sa mobile or desktop Sheetfed Scanner
Visioneer Strobe 500 STROBE500-Sa mobile or desktop Sheetfed Scanner

Pros: None

Cons: Ordered product, which is supposed to include the ADF. Newegg not only shipped me the scanner only version without the docking station and the ADF, they shipped me a product which had been previously shipped to someone else. It still had the shipping label to the original purchaser on the manufacturers original packaging, which was partially crossed out with black marker! I can still read the name and address!!! Now that I need a replacement, they're out of stock. Totally ridiculous transaction from beginning to end.

Overall Review: Verified product configuration on newegg website that ADF was included, as well as provantage, amzn, e bay, and visioneer, and newegg clearly shipped me the wrong product and a used product. Tried to call, closed. Tried to chat (supposed to be open until midnight), unavailable. Had to resort to the infamous email based assistance. Lovely

requires combo

Seagate STAE103 FreeAgent GoFlex Upgrade Cable Powered eSATA
Seagate STAE103 FreeAgent GoFlex Upgrade Cable Powered eSATA

Pros: Cheap for eSata on such a cool device (makes port interchangeable with just a cable change).

Cons: Description didn't say it when I bought it, but your computer requires one of the newer USB/eSata combo ports, which is a rare thing. Would have expected that information to be more prominently displayed in the item information. None of the 5 systems I own have that port, nor do any of the machines I have at work, nor have I seen a machine with that port.

Overall Review: Would have been easier if they would have supported a combo port, but thrown in an AC adapter of of diminutive proportions for those of us that don't have a combo usb/esata port, which I'm guessing is a lot of people.

junk

Pros: USB, cheap

Cons: Everything; will not connect at anything above 54mbit, no matter what kind of N router I use; support is terrible; drivers are so out of date that its a joke. Distance, configuration, nothing improves performance. Lesson learned: by stuff made with 1$ worth of parts, you get corresponding quality.

Overall Review: I bought 5 of these; 4 are going back because they are junk; the 5th one I'm keeping because it is used only with my WDTV Live player

HDMI terrible

Seagate FreeAgent Theater+ USB 2.0 / Ethernet HD Media Player Only STCEA201-RK
Seagate FreeAgent Theater+ USB 2.0 / Ethernet HD Media Player Only STCEA201-RK

Pros: Easy setup, many connection options, and netflix support

Cons: HDMI support is terrible; it's not a cable issue, it's a device issue. Widespread reports of bad HDMI implementation in these devices, and Seagate is doing nothing about it.

Overall Review: Being returned in favor of getting another brand that actually fixes problems with core functionality.
