BUFFALO LS-V1.0TL 1TB LinkStation Pro LS-VL Network Storage
BUFFALO LS-V1.0TL 1TB LinkStation Pro LS-VL Network Storage

Pros: Lots of storage space, easy to setup, web admin interface with lots of config options. Backup to usb drive is nice as well, although takes a bit of experimenting to understand fully.

Cons: web interface is slow and clunky. I don't like the web2.0 aspect as it doesn't seem to behave right.

Overall Review: I've really benefited from adding a gigabit switch to the wired machines. Accessing items such as a photo album over wireless can be painful. It's best to do most your work over a wired network, but this is not a fault of the machine, but the limited bandwidth of the G wireless network.

Bad board or bad brand?

ECS N2U400-A (1.0 W/ CPU) AMD AthlonXP 2900+ A (462) NVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400 ATX
ECS N2U400-A (1.0 W/ CPU) AMD AthlonXP 2900+ A (462) NVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400 ATX

Pros: Cheap motherboard and Cpu combo, great buy for the price, if you can get it to work. Onboard network/sound/usb frees up pci slots so you don't need to purchase expansion cards.

Cons: After instaling this motherboard with 1 gigabyte of DDR 2x512 pc3200 of ram, I turned my system on. The memory only ran at 200mhz ( no ddr :( ), and the cpu was underclocked. I tried installing xp, and the install would fail every time it tried to finish formatting my hdd. Same thing happened with two seperate hdd's. also would always reboot while trying to load xp (wouldnt get past xp loading screen) on older hdd. Machine would not accept some bios changes. Friend told me ECS boards are hit or miss.. usually miss. I guess you get what you pay for

Overall Review: NewEGG was very helpfull and issued me an RMA for the mb/cpu as well as the agp graphics card and hdd, that I would no longer need. Going to order up new asus motherboard.
