This review is from: Cooler Master NotePal CMC2 - Laptop Cooling Pad with 120 mm Silent Fan
Pros: Styling fan. Runs quiet. I have a the fan, keyboard and a mouse hooked up to a USB hub, so the cooling pad serves as a mini docking station. It does chorale the laptop pretty well.
Cons: Fan is not very powerful. My laptop gets slightly heated when playing some of the more demanding games. The 2gb GDDR5 take its toll. The cooling pad can only delay the moment the laptop gets heated up, but not prevent it.
I have bought a 6 dollar Chinese plastic fan on and it was much more powerful.
Other Thoughts: Still, this fan meets my requirements, and I am happy with it.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Great Laptop.
The best part about this laptop is its looks. Its on par if not better then its Mac counterparts, and looks better then most other similar laptops Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, HP etc... Only ones that may be more aesthetically pleasing, are the new ultrabooks that are coming out but they come with a price.
Love the price. I got it for $500 and got a free webcam.
I love the metallic case, no fingerprints, sturdy, feels solid and lightweight.
Love the keyboard! Its a good size and pleasant to use.
I love that the battery has tiny "legs" which elevates and tilts the laptop a bit, making it easier to type and giving it necessary airflow. This laptop NEVER heats up, handles everything easily.
Love the i5 processor. I know its only 2.3 GHz per core, but intel turbo boost technology can "overclock" it instantly up to 3.0 GHz per core, if you throw a lot at this laptop.
Love login manager. Turn on your laptop, as soon as it sees you through the webcam, it logs you in, no pass
Cons: Why? Why Asus? Why make such an awesome laptop, but save money on the little things that are also SO important.
I hate the touch pad. No multitouch, as others mentioned. Also I reinstalled the drivers and I can't turn off the touch pad when I am using the mouse. This is a problem, as it always picks up my hands when I try to take notes in class. Super annoying!
Webcam is weak 0.3MP. Also no indicator light, you don't know when its working.
The speakers are very, very quiet. That's not such a big deal, at home I have other means to play music, and on the road I have headphones.
Also, it doesn't pick up the 5 GHz channel WiFi. Only 2.4 GHz, which sucks! I would have paid $100 more if it had a decent webcam, good touch pad, good speakers and a strong WiFi antenna.
Other Thoughts: This is still a great laptop. I needed a laptop that is portable, to take notes, check email and that is capable to store all my media and crunch gigantic spreadsheets. This laptop with its form factor, 750 gig hard drive and i5 processor fits my needs perfectly. As for the downsides I still hope I can resolve the touch pad issue. I will probably buy a WiFi dongle to get internet in areas where the built-in antenna is not strong enough. I will get portable little usb speakers to play music just in case. Webcam? Whatever, this one will do.READ FULL REVIEW
