Most Favorable Review

Does what it says.

Rosewill RX35-AT-IU BLK - Aluminum 3.5" Black IDE USB 2.0 External Enclosure
Rosewill RX35-AT-IU BLK - Aluminum 3.5" Black IDE USB 2.0 External Enclosure

Pros: The quality of Rosewill still impresses me! I own several different Rosewill external inclosures. I recently purchased one IDE and one SATA external inclosure. They both run cool even under heavy use, and no problems. I don't know why people say they run hot. They are made from 100% aluminum. I also will say that both initialized and formatted the drives perfectly using XP Professional. Western Digital drives, 250 Gig IDE & 640 Gig SATA.

Cons: Screws can tricky. Take your time and use the correct screw the correct places.

Overall Review: I will definitely continue to use Rosewill products. They are also very easy to use for portability. Easily fit in a side pocket of my laptop case. Great for using older drives that your newer SATA boards won't connect to. The USB connection makes an easy compatibility with most any system or laptop.

Most Critical Review

Broke a connector right off.

Vantec NexStar SE MRK-525ST Dual 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s SSD/HDD Mobile Rack, SATA III ready (Supports 7, 9.5, 12.5, 15mm height SSD/HDD)
Vantec NexStar SE MRK-525ST Dual 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s SSD/HDD Mobile Rack, SATA III ready (Supports 7, 9.5, 12.5, 15mm height SSD/HDD)

Pros: Couldn't give it any pros due to the cons. Gave it 1 eggs because I couldn't give it a 0.

Cons: As with other reviewers I felt unit was made cheaply. Upon installing I broke one of the lite-plastic SATA connectors therefore rendering a 2 drive unit into a single drive unit which I do not need. I needed 2 drives because I planned to boot off one of them and needed the other for data transfer between computers.

Adendum to my eariler review

Rosewill RC-304 - 2-Port Parallel (SPP / PS2 / EPP / ECP) Universal PCI Card
Rosewill RC-304 - 2-Port Parallel (SPP / PS2 / EPP / ECP) Universal PCI Card

Pros: Great add on LPT card

Cons: None as of yet.

Overall Review: I figured out how to change the LPT designation to LPT1. It was a lot easier than all the googling and reading stuff that didn't work. Why people in the forums take 30 minutes finding links to post rather than taking 5 minutes or less to answer a question. This turned out to be easy as pie. Use device manager to disable LPT1, then change LPT3 to LPT1. Viola. Working fine now. You may have to re-install your printer driver to recognize this change.

Read the instructions.

Mediasonic HP1-SU3 USB 3.0 2 Port External USB 3.0 PCI Express Card - LINUX Software RAID supported
Mediasonic HP1-SU3 USB 3.0 2 Port External USB 3.0 PCI Express Card - LINUX Software RAID supported

Pros: So far so good!!!!

Cons: None as yet thou card has only been installed less than a week.

Overall Review: This was my first experience with a PCIe add-on card. This card has lain around for just over a year before I actually installed it in my machine and like most men, I didn't read the instructions first. After fussing with the card and driver for a couple of days I finally did read the guide. I had become frustrated that I repeatedly was getting a USB power bus error. I had to be missing something. I plugged in the SATA power connector and VIOLA. The card works better than my expectations. Allows me to transfer files to my external network backup drive in a flash.

Not exactly a direct replacement

Generic Uniden BT-446 Cordless Phone Compatible Ni-MH Battery
Generic Uniden BT-446 Cordless Phone Compatible Ni-MH Battery

Pros: Worked well after I got it to fit.

Cons: Battery was listed as "Generic Uniden BT-446". It was not an exact replacement in my GE phone.

Overall Review: I had to do some trimming and had to remove part of the jacket in order to get it pressed into the compartment. Hopefully I will not need to change it for several years. Might damage the phone trying to pry it out.

Perfect!!!

SYBA SY-ADA40011 SATA to IDE Adapter, Convert PATA Devices to SATA Port, RoHS.
SYBA SY-ADA40011 SATA to IDE Adapter, Convert PATA Devices to SATA Port, RoHS.

Pros: I bought two of these to go with two of these: Refurbished: WD Caviar WD1600AABB-56PUA0 160GB 7200 RPM 2MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 / ATA-6 3.5" Internal Hard Drive. I needed some cheaper drives for my grandsons' desktop. This is a homework computer, not a gamer. All have been working great for over a week. No problems as yet. Time will tell. No problems with installation. All the CORRECT connectors-cables were included. As noted earlier; if the hard drive has a metal housing, you need to make additional insulation adjustments.

Cons: None

Overall Review: This is what you need if you have older IDE drives you are trying to make use of.

Search Function

The search function as is, in my opinion, difficult to use in that in some instances the wording of the search phrase needs to be to specific in order to easily find the item you need to purchase.
