ViewSonic VP2770-LED Black 27

5 out of 5 eggs Use for Lightroom and Photoshop! WHAT A DIFFERENCE! 01/27/2014

This review is from: ViewSonic VP2770-LED Black 27" 2K SuperClear IPS Monitor, 1000:1, 300cd/m2, USB&HDMI&VGA&DVI-D Display Port, VESA mountable

Pros: I had standard monitors( 2x 24" acer x223w 1680x1050) for working with Photoshop and Lightroom. I would finish editing and then put it up on the iMac and have horrible results because the monitor of the iMac is way better in video quality. There are no artifacts, bleed through, or blemishes on the View Sonic LED screen anywhere. A better Picture than my 50" 1080p big screen TV! I will be investing for another at some point. Right now I do the editing on the 27" and use the 24" for sorting images.

Cons: A bit pricey but worth it

Other Thoughts: Make sure your video card can handle 2560x1400 before you buy this or you will be stuck with the default resolution setting of your current video card. I have a GTX570, card is a couple years old but does the job well!

Also I do game a little and simply put: all games are amazing in detail!

NETGEAR ReadyNAS 316 6-Bay Network Attached Storage Diskless (RN31600)
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Update to my previous post.
Tech Support was AWESOME (JEFF) when they finally came through! THANKS NETGEAR you all ROCK!!! Unit has a TON of features to work with and then some!

Cons: Support will only help you if you have the correct certified drives. If they have to get in the NAS and find you have non certified drives, they will not work with you from what I have read.

Other Thoughts: The 316 has a lot of options on the table for you to work with. If you are in need of help on getting any of the software apps working, get ahold of support they will gladly help you out. There is also a ton of information on the support community. I do recommend that if you are planning on running multiple apps off the NAS then go with the 516: Example running the apps media plex and NVR I would go with the 516 instead, simply because it has more power to handle the load

2 out of 5 eggs Has potential, but unit is DEAD 05/07/2013

This review is from: NETGEAR ReadyNAS 316 6-Bay Network Attached Storage Diskless (RN31600)

Pros: Easy drive installation nice touch display. Simple gui.

Cons: Would be nice if there was more documentation on installation and setup. Help tab takes you to a list of devices but does not list the Netgear NAS 316.

Other Thoughts: Initial power up of the NAS would not register across my network and I had to contact Netgear. We had to do a factory default which took 10 hours. After the factory default reinstall I wanted to install Plex Media which is already installed on the NAS but just needs to be set up. I kept getting error "System: Failed to install application "Plex Media Server" I thought it was something I was doing wrong as there was no documentation on how to achieve this setup. So I contacted Netgear. Netgear is working with me and this is the last message from Netgear, "This is somehow an issue with your unit. Is it OK, if I try to investigate this issue? I will have to check it on our laboratory to see that we could do. Then, I'll get back to you once I have concrete information. I apologize for this inconvenience." They disconnected from chat and I have no idea what to do after that last line. They did say they would get me a case number but nothing else or how long it would take.

Netgear wanted me to do an OS reinstall to try to address this issue (plex media install) and asked me to power off the unit and hit the reset button and press the ok button to get to the boot menu when I powered it back on. NAS would not power back up after I shut it down as requested by Netgear support.

NAS is only 6 days old and runs on a working APC battery back up unit. NAS will not power back up and I am unable to get to my data!

So I have a DEAD (brand new) NAS with 3-WD RED EFRX 3TB drives and 2-WD 4001 FAEX 4 TB drives.

Someone didn't do their job correctly in product testing and I am paying the price, not happy.

Take Care everyone.
