Good MB

GIGABYTE GA-MA790FX-DS5 AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX ATX Ultra Durable II AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-MA790FX-DS5 AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX ATX Ultra Durable II AMD Motherboard

Pros: Fast, so far reliable (after F6 bios update), easy to install, everything on MB is placed well.

Cons: Came with with F5 version of BIOS, with Phenom 9850 it would work out of the box for about 15 minutes and then restart for no reason, occasionally blue screen. Upgraded BIOS to F6, works like a charm now. Couldn't upgrade to F6 from windows using Gigabytes flash executable, had to copy *.F6 file to flash drive and use QFLASH at boot, upgraded that way from first try. Don't even go the floppy drive way, flash drive works flawelessly. I'm a little worried about memory being so close to CPU heatsink, tried to put 2X2gig sticks of memory into 2 farther from CPU slots, it wouldn't work even though it should. Manual says it recommends the 2 closer ones, I did that and it's fine now.

Overall Review: Overall a decent motherboard. My system specs - MA790FX-DS5 MB, Phenom 9850 CPU, 2X2Gig Patriot PC2-8500 1066Mhz memory, GeForce 8800 GT 512mb from EVGA PCI-E, plus some random WD hard drive and DVD-R drive.

ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2 is really good

ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro - Compact Multi-Compatible Tower CPU Cooler | 92 mm PWM Fan | for AMD AM4 and Intel 115x CPU | Recommended up to 115 W TDP
ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro - Compact Multi-Compatible Tower CPU Cooler | 92 mm PWM Fan | for AMD AM4 and Intel 115x CPU | Recommended up to 115 W TDP

Pros: - Easy to install on Intel. Haven't tried AMD, but didn't look that complicated, just a few extra brackets. - Very sturdy, easy to disassemble and clean. - Keeps CPU much cooler than stock fan.

Cons: - None

Overall Review: I have an aging i7-2600k, had original CPU fan going for 3-4 years now. It got extremely dirty, I tried re-applying heatsink paste and cleaning it and finally got it to idle at around 45C with full load going as high as 85-90C (which is really bad). I put on this Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev2 fan my temps dropped to 30C idle and haven't seen it go above 45-50C on full load yet. Good Fan, I'd recommend to others.

Good sound

Something happened to my on-board sound had to get it replaced with external. Decided on this sound card. Pros: Shipped fast, worked out of the box (Win7 64bit), sounds about same as my old motherboard. Cons: Bracket didn't quite fit. Off by a few millimeters. Choice of leaving it unscrewed or make creative modifications. I doubt my case is irregular in any way.
