Fantastic product. Works well for streaming.

TRENDnet TPL-401E Powerline 500 AV Adapter Up to 500Mbps
TRENDnet TPL-401E Powerline 500 AV Adapter Up to 500Mbps

Pros: Works very well, as advertised. (4) 1 gigabit ethernet ports are very useful if you have more than one device in a single room. These devices are Plug n' Go. They offer decent speeds to remote areas of a home or small office which would otherwise not have networking available. Lastly, they're pretty consistent as far as reliability and speed. I would recommend these devices and even purchase them again.

Cons: Custom encryption can be a pain to setup. The Utility is a bit poorly designed, requiring WinPcap be installed to capture network data. Gigabit ports are great if you are networking 4 devices off of one adapter. Otherwise, it's kinda useless over powerline. Above I state that speeds are consistent and reliable. They are however they are far from the 500Mbps. Max speeds I've seen so far for the distance that my data is travelling is about 150 Mbps. It's a good solid 150 though. Lastly, the lights on the device will change colors depending on speed drops, Green, Amber, and then either flashing or solid. This can be distracting in a media room if the device is in plain view. But it's not that big of a deal.

Overall Review: I've been skeptical about data traffic over powerlines because of EM interference. However, I am a recent convert and believer that this works well. I just moved into a new home and the networking layout was less then optimal. These devices now allow me to stream HD to my DVR which is literally across the house on two different floors. I know that every review (including this one) takes note of speed and consistency which is contrary to the advertised packaging. You must take into consideration how 'clean' your home electrical system is and the distances which you are requiring from the adapters. They will perform "UP TO" 500 Mbps. But even at 150 Mbps, the adapters maintain the throughput for up to 500 Mbps per adapter. Do a search on throughput vs bandwidth and you'll understand what I'm saying here. All in all, good purchase which I would do again and I recommend the devices highly.
