RMA after a month
Pros: When the unit surged it did its job excellently and protected all components in my system. A ton of SATA and 4 pins. FANTASTIC customer service from Corsair, don't have enough good words for their service. Price effective unit. One of the cheaper at it's wattage. Worth any extra cash to buy from Corsair.
Cons: The only real con is the insane amount of cables this supply has. It was nearly impossible to keep my HAF 922 clean with this supply in it. If this unit was modular it would seal a 5 star, but the extra hours of effort it took to hide the 12 extra SATA connections and 12 extra 4 pin connection dropped my rating to 4.
Overall Review: System: HAF 922 Gigabyte X58a-UD3r mobo Sapphire 5970 Intel i7 930 8gb (4x2gb) GSKILL 2000 ram Scythe Mugen 2B After RMA went out and bought the Corsair 1000 watt supply that is modular. Not for disliking this model, but I just really didn't want to have to deal with all the cables again. I LOVE Corsair and will never buy another company's power supply.
Pros: Well layed out. Easy to setup (nice for my first build) Gets the job done.
Cons: Absolutely will NOT let me OC my RAM. Makes me a bit sad to have G.Skill 2000 RAM running at 1333.
Overall Review: BIOS was straightforward enough. Good mobo for the cost. i7 930 this mobo sapphire hd 5970 8gb (4x2gb) g.skill 2000 corsair hx1000
An arm and a leg
Pros: Used this card in my first build. It runs pretty much anything I can throw at it at very close to max frame rate. Definitely does everything I ask of it. I run the card with the fan around 40-45% depending on temps, and I see no problem with the sound, temps hover a little higher though at about 50 degrees.
Cons: the software is SOOOO bad. Like unbelievably bad. I have spent hours upon hours making sure I have the right drivers and trying to get the ATI suite up and running. It just doesn't happen. The only way I can control the fan at all is with MSI afterburner (made for other cards), and these efforts were not a one time deal. My efforts are often a few hours every couple of weeks. It's rather frustrating.
Overall Review: I'm happy with this GPU but I often catch myself thinking why didnt I SLI 2 or 3 cheaper cards.... I give it a 4 out of 5 because it still makes me happy to run SC2, Warcraft, or MW at ultra everything without any lag. All-in-all I regret not going nVidia, but I am not overly unhappy with this card.
Great Case
Pros: Great case for my first build. I threw the Sniper window side panel on this thing and it still makes me happy to look at 7 months since my purchase. The case is great, fits my 5970 perfectly and the huge cooler I have. The cd bays and hard drive bays are incredibly easy to use. Really enjoy this case! I cant recommend this case enough!
Cons: The front fan catches a lot of dust and is kind of hard to clean, and the bottom fan does little to nothing other than cost you an extra $15 for a fan if you want it.
Overall Review: Rig: HAF 922 i7 930 @ 3.1 x58a-ud3r 8gb (4x2g) g.skill 2000 ram ATI Sapphire 5970 Corsair 1000watt modular (used to have the 950watt non-modular... SOO many cables, but this beast hide them pretty well.) I will also note that I put a blue LED 200mm fan on top and front on the case.
Maybe I just have sausage fingers
Pros: Great cooler. Clearer gets the job done. Pretty easy to figure out even though all instructions are in japanese. Just barely clears the heat sinks on my G.Skill RAM. I can get my temp down around 30-35 C, but I am 99% sure that I STILL havent correctly tightened this.
Cons: The mounting system left the unit loose, and after numerous attempts to tighten, I was left unhappy with the effort needed to truly tighten the unit on.
Overall Review: Used on: i7 930 x58a-ud3r
