Most Favorable Review

works well if...

SYBA SY-JM-SIDE SATA/IDE Adapter, Connect IDE Devices to SATA Port on Motherboard
SYBA SY-JM-SIDE SATA/IDE Adapter, Connect IDE Devices to SATA Port on Motherboard

Pros: it does the unsexy but necessary task it's supposed to do.

Cons: flimsy seeming.

Overall Review: SET YOUR DRIVE TO MASTER! if you do NOT, then you will run into the issue of not only the drive not being recognized but a ridiculously long time recognizing ide drives during post. if you set it to master, NO DELAY during post and it works great.

feared the worst but it worked!

Pros: 1/19/2015... so i decided to give my abit ip-35/q9550/evga gtx 660ti a bit more life with an increase of ram from my current 4gb to 8gb... what i'd forgotten however was i tried using 4 sticks of ram before and the mobo just did not like it... i had to replace 4 OCZ 1gb sticks to 2x2gb sticks when i upgraded to 4gb. i remembered this as the g-skills were in the mail. and a search on the web confirmed what i remembered from research before - this mobo is known to have problems with 4 sticks. was dreading having to spend hours not getting POST and trying to figure out what the heck was wrong and then having to just send it back with a re-stocking fee. anyway, after they arrived (after prompt shipping), i cleared out an afternoon and prepared for a crampy dusty couple of hours. after i installed the sticks, the system would NOT boot. couldn't even post. so did the predictable BIOS song and dance a few times (with listed 555 15)... nothing. so then i did the mechanical shuffle... tried to get a boot with two sticks at a time and confirm my nightmare that the system just wouldn't take 4. tried even slots only. system booted. dang it... tried odd slots only. system did not boot! with just two sticks... INTERESTING! so first, let's do one stick at a time in the first slot - all 4 sticks worked. now let's try slot #3 that caused boot failure with two sticks. system did not boot! AHA! so it's slot 3! i pulled out the stick, looked at the ram, looked at the slot, tried again. this time, something seemed to slip and the ram seated differently than it did last time.... tried booting... IT WORKED!!!!!!!! then, as fast as i possibly could, i got all the other sticks into the remaining 3 slots, crossed every finger and toe i have on my body and powered up. IT WORKS!!!!! with voltage at auto no less! and it's been two weeks now with absolutely rock solid performance whether it's doing zbrush, rendering from after effects or playing advanced warfare. so my deepest gratitude for newegg and g-skill for smiling down on me and sparing me from merchandise exchange hell and giving my really old but really capable rig a new lease on life.

Cons: none. they even look pretty.

Overall Review: confirmation bias and all... it could well be that there are plenty of systems out there where 4 sticks of ram really will not work.... but REALLY try re-seating the ram and see if you can rule that out as a factor. it's ridiculous to me that in this day and age, it's possible that just not shoving something in hard enough can be a problem but evidently, it can be.... so if you have problems with 4 sticks, go 2 at a time and 1 at a time and see if you can narrow the issue down. good luck!

Fantastic, Reliable Seller in a Sea of Unknowsn

I was in the market for a used ThinkPad (the end of an age T420s) and if you've ever searched for used/refurb stuff on Newegg, you know that anything you're looking for returns a slew of entries, all by different sellers. It's hard not to feel like it's a crapshoot - not just in terms of maybe getting a lemon refurb but also whether the seller is knowledgeable & responsible or whether they're just dumping something storage lot finds. I contacted Will at CBC Computers to double check on some specs and not only did he get me sorted out in terms of information but personally hand picked a mint quality refurb for me just as he was going off on holiday. The laptop that I received was even better than I could have hoped and you could tell that both in terms of cosmetics as well as system install, everything was done with care. He also made sure I could get into BIOS and wasn't locked out by previous admins. Great communication, quality & ship! recommend without reservation. A++ seller indeed
