Excellent Solution for "older" AGP systems

XFX PVT73AUDE3 GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card
XFX PVT73AUDE3 GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card

Pros: I’m still using a Dell Dimension 8100. A long time ATi exclusive user (Mach64 -> Radeon 64MB DDR w/VIVO -> Radeon 9600 Pro -> Radeon 9800 Pro), I really wanted to stick with ATi. However, newer ATi cards refuse to work in my system ("X" Series). This card not only works perfectly, but outperforms the aforementioned. Additional bonus that it works with the original Dell power supply (I also have two hard drives, one floppy drive, 2 DVD drives, additional PCI cards, and 6 USB controllers installed in the same system). TV-Out is also gorgeous with 1024x768 supported resolution. A real bargain and the best deal for anyone who is still using an AGP based system. Easy, no hassle installation. Card indeed runs cool and quite. Nice boost in both graphic details and FPS as well.

Cons: It doesn't install itself or make me coffee in the morning...lol.

Overall Review: Really a great deal for anyone in the market for a new AGP card. The Dell Dimension 8100 is a very proprietary system. Specific power supply and original 423 Northwood Processor can make upgrading a challenge. Additionally, the APG slot is 2x or 4x. This card made the upgrade simple and painless. Unlike my recent experience with ATi chip based cards.

Newer Version - Less/Cheaper Features

HOOVER
HOOVER

Pros: The suction power

Cons: The model being offered now may be listed the same but is lacking some key features and qualities. Look at the two different pictures to get an idea of some of these: 1. No more headlamp/light. 2. No more bag indicator (how full) 3. Cheaper/thinner plastic on entire vacuum, including the accessories which tend to break more easily than the previous generation.

Overall Review: Still have to give it 4 stars due to the main purpose; upright vacuum is second to none when it comes to suction power. I have never come across any consumer/resident grade vacuum with such force and pick up strength. However, it is very disappointing that Hoover as scaled back and made and even cheaper to manufacture model which pales in comparison to the older one in feature and build quality.

Quality, Effective, Inexpensive

Linksys WRT54GL 802.11b/g Wireless Broadband Router up to 54 Mbps/ Compatible with Open Source DD-WRT (not pre-load)

Pros: Easy setup, instructions for both physical setup and system configuration is straight forward and easy to understand. Works with XP and Vista devices without issue. Relatively strong signal. Router has plenty of advance configuration options as well.

Cons: It doesn't dispense money.

Overall Review: I configured two of these. One for my home and one for my in-laws. My place has a combination of Vista and XP machines and installled without problems. My inlaws have a vista machine and a wireless 4-in-1 printer/fax/scanner/copier. All devices work great independently and with one another.

You can't beat it for the price I paid.

ASUS VH242H Black 23.6" 5ms HDMI Full 1080P Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 ASCR 20000:1 (1000:1) W/Speakers

Pros: Beautiful display and very inexpensive. No dead pixels. No major hassels. No real complaints.

Cons: Menu system to navigate through options not the most user friendly, but works fine. Some may not like the off-colored (Orange) power button - However, it is off to the lower right hand side.

Overall Review: Another HDMI input would have been nice. But for the price, it really is a fantastic deal.

Works Perfect

Omni Gear DVI-2-HDMI 6 ft. HDMI to DVI Cable Male to Male Black

Pros: Cable works beautifully running from one of my PC's video card DVI outputs to one of my 32" LCD HDTV HDMI inputs.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Buy it.

Great bang for the buck

WD My Book Mirror Edition 2TB USB 2.0 3.5" External Hard Drive WDH2U20000N Black
WD My Book Mirror Edition 2TB USB 2.0 3.5" External Hard Drive WDH2U20000N Black

Pros: Excellent mindless RAID 1. It comes configured that way out of the box. Data is safe/secure. Quiet and cool drives. No additional software installation necessary in my case. Just plugged it into an XP SP2 machine without issue and installed basic driver.

Cons: No way to turn off 'power save' feature. Drive goes into standby-mode if there is no activity to it after 10 minutes. Drive wakes up in ~10 seconds from standby-mode.

Overall Review: Other connections would be nice, but works as designed and you receive well worth what I paid time and free shipping to boot. Arrived in a couple of days. The blue light I can see being annoying to some as it did bother me a little at first. After a week, I could care less. And as others suggested a piece of tape (Black electrical would be ideal) can block it if you're really that bothered by it. The additional software didn't interest me at first. Later on, I decided to install the WD Drive Manager software, but nothing else. I like that it provides the amount of space used, temperature condition, and RAID type/status in a 'sys tray' icon. I wanted a simple and effective backup solution with no hassel. This is it.
