Polk Audio PSW Series PSW505 12" Powered Subwoofer Single
Polk Audio PSW Series PSW505 12" Powered Subwoofer Single

Pros: Leave it to Newegg to come up with the ultimate deal. This is the previous series product, but basically equivalent to the current series Polk sells today, offered at half the price of anything you can find today. How can they continue to offer this great deal, 2.5 years later? I bought this at two-fifty, which was a great deal, and now at only two hundred it's an absolute steal. Don't let them tell you that an 8" or 10" woofer gives you tighter bass and is better for listening to music, etc. For a subwoofer, it's all about POWER and SUBSONICS. That means you need the largest size (12" ) and loads of power, and this unit has it in spades. Lots of power, very low frequency response, very clean black finish blends in. easy control of frequency response and power level.

Cons: Large size might not fit all situations. Note the dimensions of this monster, and measure your space for fit.

Overall Review: I bought this when my Energy Take 5 woofer died. After getting it home, i realized that those tiny satellites were holding me back, and i ended up buying a complete 7-channel set of Polk speakers to match. Again, they were the previous-generation speakers from newegg at an incredible price. When setting up my speakers with Audigy, i found that it dialed-down the woofer by -8dB compared with the other speakers! I cranked it back up to 0dB anyway. While it's true that the woofer is too boomy for music, it's ideal for movie-watching of DTS source material. For music i dial-back the woofer, and for movies i crank it up. Absolutely no regrets.

excellent KVM switch

BELKIN F1DD102L SOHO 2-Port DVI & USB KVM Switch
BELKIN F1DD102L SOHO 2-Port DVI & USB KVM Switch

Pros: One of the only KVM switches that supports dual-link DVI for a 2560x1600 monitor. Solidly built, reliable, customizable and sophisticated in its capabilities.

Cons: Specialty item that is expensive, and hard to find at a discount. Ridiculously large size makes it clumsy on the desktop. Difficult to hide away. No mounting holes or eyelets to mount the unit on a wall or the underside of a desk. I had to use my woodshop to make a wooden bracket to mount it under my desk.

Overall Review: I bought this to replace an old IOGear switch because i bought a 30-inch monitor that runs 2560x1600, for switching between laptop and desktop computers. Also switched from VGA to DVI. I Found that this switch would NOT work with my new monitor. Belkin tech support said that it was not compatible and to ask Dell about it, even though their user documentation doesn't say ANYTHING about limitations of monitor compatibility. It turns out that the monitor supports only native resolution (and 1280x800 for emergency troubleshooting only) and this caused the Belkin KVM to silently refuse to display anything. Most LCD monitors will up-scale any signal to native resolution, but not these monster 30-inch monitors. Apparently there is no such controller-chip which does OSD and image scaling for resolutions above 1920x1200. Unfortunately Dell won't say this anywhere, nor will Belkin mention any limitation with these monitors.

solid choice

Polk Audio Monitor30 Series II Two-Way Bookshelf Loudspeaker (Cherry) Pair
Polk Audio Monitor30 Series II Two-Way Bookshelf Loudspeaker (Cherry) Pair

Pros: * solid build quality * classic styling, straight-ahead square design * cherry looks good, and blends well with house decor * awsome newegg price

Cons: * not really suitable for wall-mounting

Overall Review: The Monitor series was discontinued in 2008 and replaced with TSi, which are largely identical. You can still get these Montirs at newegg for significantly less than TSi. I originally bought the Polk PSW505 woofer to replace an energy take woofer that died. Eventually, i realized that i should just buy a whole set of these Monitors and upgrade the whole lot. The TSi have a black top (or black end caps on the center spkr) presumably so you don't see where two fake woodgrain surfaces meet at the corners. Personally, i prefer the look of the Monitor series, with woodgrain on the top. With more cherry, it just looks warmer. I use them as surrounds, along with the Monitor 40s for fronts. They have a keyhole eyelet for wall mounting, but there is no way to angle them downwards. Also, they are too bulky for wall-mounting due to the 11" depth. Sit them on a pedestal, they are fine as surrounds. For surround backs, I kept my white Energy Takes

Polk Audio CS1 Series II Center Channel Speaker (Cherry) Single
Polk Audio CS1 Series II Center Channel Speaker (Cherry) Single

Pros: * solid build quality * very nice looking speaker * awesome newegg price!

Cons: * fake wood-grain

Overall Review: upgraded energy take system with set of polk monitors and woofer, and i have no regrets. When choosing between black and cherry, i'm glad i went with cherry. Even though it's not real wood, it looks really good, both up close, and from afar. Overall black was too austere for our house, and the cherry is much softer, and blends in well with other natural wood finishes we have. NOTE that this speaker does NOT look the same color as in the photos. the photos have this orange tint, but they don't look like that. Look at photos of the Monitor 30 or Monitor 40, and this speaker has the same deep cherry hue. It is surprisingly large, compared with most home theater center speakers, like Take classic. But what you get is a very full and excellent quality mid-range. Combine that with a good 100W/channel receiver, and the polk PSW505 woofer (available for an awesome price at newegg) and you have the basis of a top-quality cinema rig at a fraction of the cost you'd expect.

Polk Audio Monitor40 Series II Two-Way Bookshelf Loudspeaker (Cherry) Pair
Polk Audio Monitor40 Series II Two-Way Bookshelf Loudspeaker (Cherry) Pair

Pros: * solid build quality * awesome newegg price

Cons: * false woodgrain

Overall Review: i've upgraded my home cinema energy satellites with these as front speakers. I immediately noticed a better presence with these as fronts, because of their solid midrange. Fronts should be bigger than your surrounds! The finish is surprisingly nice, even if it is fake wood. Pay more for the RTi series if you want real wood, but these look nice, and the finish is durable. I know that these speakers will last a lifetime. plain and simple

drive crashed

Western Digital WD Green WD10EARS 1TB 64MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Manufacture Recertified Bare Drive
Western Digital WD Green WD10EARS 1TB 64MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Manufacture Recertified Bare Drive

Pros: Everyone knows this drive is low-power, but i didn'texpect how totally silent it is. I had to put my ear up onto the drive just to hear it spin up. high capacity at an unbeatable price

Cons: I don't see any disadvantages of buying this drive, and buying it through newegg. You're covered.

Overall Review: The drive crashed within 24 hours of installation in my Synology 4-bay NAS. The NAS beeped and politely informed me that the drive had crashed. Puzzled, I tried to plug it into my computer's SATA, and the computer froze. tried to reboot, but computer wouldn't get past POST until i unplugged the drive. At a guess, i'd say the drive's SATA controller failed. Pretty quickly, i had a newegg RMA, and sent it back. Not wanting to wait a week, i emailed newegg, asking to have it cross-shipped. They said call the 800 number and ask. I called them, and they set everything up to ship a replacement right away. actually newegg gave me expedited shipping. Overall Newegg ROCKS - but everyone already knows that already. Anyway, i was inspired to write a review.

An excellent seller that really takes care of their customers.

I had a few issues with this order. There was an issue with packaging, as the item was squashed by the USPS. Also, tracking was messed-up. The tracking showed that the item was "packaging" the entire time until it was suddenly delivered. Also, the package went through DHL before transferring to the USPS. The tracking number was not understood by DHL, and USPS never showed any information, presumably because it was not handed-off correctly. Anyway, tracking was a big fail. It's not clear whether it was the vendor or newegg's system. I contacted the marketplace vendor because my item was damaged by the USPS. They handled it very well. I sent pictures, and they refunded me, no issues. Thanks iSave! You guys are awesome. I wish I could say the same thing about the USPS. Bottom line is that this item should have been put in a box, and not a padded envelope. The USPS will squash any item, if they need to fit it into a small mail box. I felt that the vendor really listened to my feedback. Overall, I recommend iSave. They look after their customers.
