Decent protection..if you're willing to endure a couple shortcomings

Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 - 3 PCs
Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 - 3 PCs

Pros: Seems to be pretty comprehensive. Minimal notifications and interruptions - it just does its job. Performance impact appears to be relatively light. KIS also handles OS upgrades rather gracefully in most cases.

Cons: UI could be friendlier. Has a useless splash screen just like Norton that displays four of its eight giant icons..you have to scroll Metro-sytle to see the rest. Getting tired of this visual gimmick. Firewall is nowhere NEAR as friendly as Avast's or even Norton's..I can't even figure out how to control network access for individual apps! With most other security wares this is simple.

Overall Review: That refund that takes 4-6 weeks? Ha! Its been well over two months and NOTHING. When I put in my number on Kaspersky's refund site it rejects it. Newegg has ignored my email requests for help. Between this and the interface issues I wish I'd gotten Norton or Avast instead.

Lies and incompetence

Bitdefender Total Security 2014 - Value Edition - 3 PCs / 2 Years
Bitdefender Total Security 2014 - Value Edition - 3 PCs / 2 Years

Pros: Relatively simple install, no real issues there. Configurable enough for most users. So far as I can tell it seems to be doing its job..I hope.

Cons: Clunky, limited interface like so many other A/V programs these days. Doesn't have Windows Explorer support for on-demand scanning, if you can believe it. You have to go into the program and more often than not create a custom scan. In 2014 this is completely absurd. Configuration options don't quite compare to better known products like avast! or even Norton. Worst of all, even after registering the thing it keeps popping up every few days demanding I do it again, on every machine its running on. Tech support was less than useless - their reply was that it was already registered, WHICH I KNEW..they essentially regurgitated my complaint. Two weeks later I got a message saying that since I hadn't followed up on my issue they were closing the ticket! But the real capper was waiting until TODAY to finally receive my "refund" that I applied for a week after it arrived at my house. That was around the first of December. This "refund" consisted of a postcard saying my refund was denied because of "incorrect post date" (or something like that). I would NEVER use or recommend another Bitdefender product.

POSSIBLE SCAM!

Seagate BarraCuda ST3160316AS 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
Seagate BarraCuda ST3160316AS 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Probably a very good drive by what I've been able to find out. Fair price for what it is (at least while sale lasts).

Cons: NOT A SATA 3 DRIVE.

Overall Review: THIS IS AN OLD SATA 2 DRIVE. Either Newegg, Seagate or BOTH are clearly trying to unload these by *LYING* about them being USB 3.0. This drive has been out for at least 2 years!! If you add it to a wish list it even shows the price for its previous *honest* listing. Is this what Newegg has become since the TV commercials started? Are they helping their suppliers scam us?? -2 eggs for deception!
