WD My Cloud EX2 6TB Personal Cloud Storage - NAS (WDBVKW0060JCH-NESN)
WD My Cloud EX2 6TB Personal Cloud Storage - NAS (WDBVKW0060JCH-NESN)

Pros: IT'S WORKING AGAIN!

Cons: Still a little worried about the vapor lock incident. Had to basically rebuild raid array and reset NAS to factory defaults after only a couple of months use..

Overall Review: Had trouble getting in touch with WD support due to time difference and my work schedule. Finally got with level 2 support (Matthew G). He's my hero. Very knowledgeable and patient. Tried one fix that helped a little. The second call from him did the trick. All devices are firing on all cylinders. Thanks again Matthew!

Ouch

Acronis True Image Home 2012 (DVD)
Acronis True Image Home 2012 (DVD)

Pros: Backed up 2 computers

Cons: I'll try to keep it short. Bought 5 licenses (2 disks, 3 downloads). About 2 weeks after installing on my main PC, I noticed that my card reader wasn't working and was having an SVCHost.exe error at shutdown. I thought my card reader had shot craps. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, no go. Disk manager could see SD card in reader but I couldn't open it in Explorer. Got in and played with the registry, no joy. Traced the SVC problem down to a problem with the card reader drver. WT*. Then i tried to open Acronis and it was not accessible. Tried a repair install. It failed. Tried to uninstall acronis, Failed. Finally was able to wipe it and again WT*. My card reader worked. Searched Acronis disables card reader and what do ya know.... Acronis said they are working on a fix (since early November) and the workaround (it's probably going to be the fix) is to kill the computer, install card and reboot. It works but is not acceptable. I'm out about $75.00 and 4 nights of frustration.

Overall Review: By the way I ordered another PCI USB card for the internal 9-pin header (older mobo) and another card reader and installed it before finding the Acronis glitch. That's another $36.00 and a p'oed wife. I thought acronis was supposed to give me peace of mind, not a flipping stroke! BTW Newegg ROCKS!!!

Not compatible with XP

Creative Sound Blaster Z PCIe 116dB SNR Gaming Sound Card with 600 ohm Headphone Amp and Beamforming Microphone
Creative Sound Blaster Z PCIe 116dB SNR Gaming Sound Card with 600 ohm Headphone Amp and Beamforming Microphone

Pros: Sounds great in Win 7. It is a ton better than the on board Realtek sound.

Cons: Not compatible with Win XP

Overall Review: My fault. I should have read all the details on this card. I have a dual boot system because my wife can't give up on XP. One more reason she has to chew me out. Hey Creative! make my wife happy and make a driver for XP. Pwwwweeeeezzzzzz

Works great for me

D-Link DWA-142 RangeBooster N Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE 802.11n Draft USB 2.0
D-Link DWA-142 RangeBooster N Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE 802.11n Draft USB 2.0

Pros: smokin fast speed test. 300 Mb/s connection all the time. Router is in the basement and even outside has 'very goo' connection at 247 Mb/s.

Cons: Hockey puck on a string but it sits nicely on my lap desk under one of the bungie (bungy ?) straps.

Overall Review: I purchased this after fighting a DWA-130 for over 2 months. It barely gets warm as opposed to the blistering 130 and holds its 'excellent' connection for hours. Using with D-Link DIR-655. BTW D-Links E-mail support is typical....terrible.

Update

D-Link Wireless N300 USB Adapter (DWA-130)
D-Link Wireless N300 USB Adapter (DWA-130)

Pros: 300 Mb/s...sometimes

Cons: This is an update from the 3rd one down. By the way N/A, I too downloaded the latest driver for this device and I too know that some components run hot but I was hoping you could explain why this adapter gets worse reception as it heats up. Remember that heat creates resistance in a circuit. This adapter will work great in the same room as the router (excellent) But when I take it upstairs and sit at the same spot where my old wireless G connection worked fine it slowly drops from 'good' to 'fair' to 'low' to 'limited' connection over a period of about 45 minutes. I finally went out and purchased a D-Link DWA-142 and, although it is a hockey puck on a string, it has 'excellent' reception at all times. I even took it outside and still have 'very good' reception. SpeedTest, com even registered 1,046 Kb/S. BTW it barely radiates any heat. So I'm sorry, my 1 egg still stands. Now its off to write a review for the DWA-142.

Overall Review: It is possible that I received a defective unit as other people seem to find it okay but the DWA, but the adapter I got was finger burning hot.

Not so hot

D-Link Wireless N300 USB Adapter (DWA-130)
D-Link Wireless N300 USB Adapter (DWA-130)

Pros: 300 Mb/s

Cons: Horrible range. I purchased this adapter along with the D-Link DIR-655 router after reading a ratings review on the latter. It constantly drops, especially after it's been on for a while. Gets hot. I don't know if heat has anything to do with the lost connections. My old D-Link DI-524 and laptops built-in (Intel Pro Wireless) setup worked so much better than this setup. I am suspecting that this USB adapter is the problem. I will try another adapter.

Overall Review: I know that 802-11n is still in its infancy, but I would think with all the hubub about improved range that this setup would outperform my old g setup

New OEM battery...probably made in 2015

Even though my original battery was alright, it showed a full charge all day and then would abruptly fire after about 14 hours. This new battery showed the battery drain through the day, but only lasted about 4 hours
