Lasted about 2 years

Western Digital SiliconEdge Blue 2.5" 64GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SSC-D0064SC-2100
Western Digital SiliconEdge Blue 2.5" 64GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SSC-D0064SC-2100

Pros: Great speed

Cons: Died after 2 years.

Overall Review: Well the drive was super fast. I noticed a huge speed increase from uprading from my IDE drive. The only issue is that it lasted 24 months. I am just getting around to writing the review as it died in September/October of 2012 which is just slightly over the 2 year mark. As it is now out of warranty, I highly doubt that WD will respond. As it stands now, i have had 2 WD drives fail within the 3 year warranty period, 1 WD external just shy outside of a 12 month warranty. On the external, I got a "you get what you pay for" speech as I did not purchase a drive with a 3 year warranty or an extended warranty.

Troubled Drive

Pros: 500 gig. You can install it in a PC. Makes a great paper weight. It could also be used for home security if somone breaks in at night.

Cons: This was a weird failure. After about 6 months I was having write issues to the drive and a blue screen. After I took some troubleshooting thinking it was just corrupted files, reinstalling. I eventually purchased a new drive and my troubles gone away. I also had an external that lasted me 15 months.

Overall Review: I was always told to be WD. I dont know if I am crazy, but I just purchased an WD 64 gig SSD to put as my boot drive. I am going to keep my 2nd Maxtor 500gig as a back up. When I get the replacement for the WD, maybe it will be a 2nd back up or maybe I will frankenstein a computer together for the kids.
