XFX Radeon R9 290X R9-290X ENFC 4GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support Video Card
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Great card, I purchased it when it came out from a different retailer since they didn't have it in stock here. The card runs no where near as hot or loud as people make it seem. People say it isn't a good OC'er but I have mine running at 1160 core and 1500 memory wit the stock cooler at 80% manual fan speed, it never exceeds 70C. Running BF4 on ultra with 125% res scale @ 1080p I get 100+ FPS. Previous I owned a 7970 but I couldn't OC it because it was voltage locked and this was an insane upgrade. With my 7970 I could run BF4 high at 60-70 FPS so this really was worth the upgrade.

Cons: None regarding card performance. However if you are looking to buy a 290 or 290x be patient and look for it at close to MSRP instead of the $900 newegg is charging for it.

Other Thoughts: Newegg and other retailers are extremely overpricing the card. I understand stock is limited but really a $350 up charge? Are you kidding me?
