Western Digital Scorpio Black WD3200BJKT-00F4T0 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: * 5 year warranty * fast when it worked

Cons: * vibrations and noise

Overall Review: my first W.D. hard drive was in a Cyrix 486 DX2 66mhz. The drive was about 500MB and failed within a year. Replacement suffered the same fate. Fast forward 16 years, my third western digital (WD3200BJKT) also died within one year. First, IRQ time outs noticed in windows Vista when the OS would eventually dead lock waiting on a write operation to finish; this would eventually get flagged within the event logger. Ran W.D.'s data life guard tools and got a nice IRQ request timeout on a write operation while doing a low level format, twice. I've owned all brands of hard drives over the 17 years, but western digital has suffered the most premature failure of any manufacture I have purchased a hard drive from.
