No working 5.1 Surround Sound

ASUS P8Z77-V LE LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS P8Z77-V LE LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: With two exceptions, this motherboard fits my needs, and works well.

Cons: There is a problem with the RealTek ALC892 chipset or drivers under Windows 8 and 8.1 (Pro 64-bit) in that with two different Logitech 5.1 (Z506 and older model) surround sound system speaker systems sound emits from only the two front speakers. No sound emits from the center or side speakers, or the sub-woofer. The problem is apparently unique to Windows 8/8.1, as there is no such problem under Windows 7 (Ultimate 64-bit). Microsoft Tech Support determined that the problem is with the motherboard, and not the Windows 8/8.1 operating system and referred me to ASUS tech support. Thus far, the only response I've received from ASUS Tech Support (CASEID=RWTM20140128011841835-889) has been "Please reinstall the Audio driver for a test. If the problem is still, please check if the media play supports Win 8/Win 8.1 OS?" I'd already informed them that I'd already performed multiple reinstallations of the drivers, as well as the Windows 7 and WIndows 8/8.1 operating systems, and that the problem was unique to Windows 8/8.1. I've responded to ASUS, but unless the problem can be resolved within the next 72 hours I'll be returning the MB for refund while I still can. I've been using ASUS motherboards exclusively for more than 10 years with all of the computers I've built for myself, my friends and family, and my companies, and in all that time I've only experienced problems with this, and two other ASUS motherboards. Overall, I like their motherboards, but not their tech support.

Bad installation disc

Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 Suite
Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 Suite

Pros: I really can't rate this product as I haven't yet been able to install it due to the defective installation disc that came in the box

Cons: Roxio Support. What a waste of my time. It took more than 4 hours of exchanging redundant information, 3 system restorations, and an untold number of attempts to install this software before "I" thought to try and copy the contents of the installation disc to my hard drive. More that 75% of the files on the disc could not read. In what became typical Roxio fashion, I had to try and read the disc using a total of 6 different drives on 3 different computers before they would agree that the disc was defective...

Overall Review: To the Moon Roxio, to the Moon. I'm recently disabled and no longer able to drive to my local electronics/computer stores. In the past, I've found newegg.com to be of great convenience. They had reasonable prices (There are often lower prices elsewhere now), a good selection of products to choose from, and quick shipment/delivery. With this purchase I've learned what a nightmare it can be to return a software product for RMA. I shipped the defective product back on Thursday; it was received at newegg the following day, but when I contacted customer service asking when I might expect a replacement for the defective product I was informed that it would be the following Monday or Tuesday before their computers were updated to show their receipt of the defective product... This was my last purchase from newegg.com.
