Great solution for multi-hard configuration

NZXT WHISPER WHI - 001BK Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case
NZXT WHISPER WHI - 001BK Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: Almosy only case under $200 with 9 separate 3.5" bays that doesn't take up 5.25" bays like antec 900 and 1200 cases do. Fans also come in 3 pin connectors as well as 4 pin in case you want to motinor fan speed. Easy to use slide-in hard drive bays with rubber pads that reduces hard disk vibration as well as spacing for better cooling. Appropriately placed holes for neat cable wiring. Cheap price for a full tower ATX case. Quiet.

Cons: The front panel cables (power switch, front led, etc.) need re-wiring when you use all of seven 5.25" drive bays. Right side of the case has no screw hole on front side of the 5.25" bay in case you want to use short 5.25" device such as fan controller.

Overall Review: I switched from Antec 900 case as my # of hard drives reached 11. I added two Cooler Master 4 in 3 HDD Module Device - (STB-3T4-E3-GP) to add airflow to the top part of the case, as only fan in the top part is rear 120mm fan. This also increased total # hard drive space to 17, which is almost impossible in other full tower cases in this price range. With additional hard cages with 120 fans intalled, cooling is adequate for my ATI HD 4870 graphics card. I plan on adding one more of the same card. I currently have 4 * WD 6400AAKS in raid 0 for OS, only using front 300GB, 4 * Seagate 7200.11 1.5 TB in raid 5 with HighPoint RockerRaid 2300, Old WD 740ADFD raptor for all the temp files, Seagate 7200.10 400GB & 7200.11 750GB for Norton Ghost backup files. Overall, it runs multiple hard drives and high-end graphics card cool and quiet.

Pros: Worked great quietly until it broke down.

Cons: UNRELIABLE!! I purchased this power supply on 12/29/2009. Since then, I used it mostly on 24/7 schedule which shouldn't be the cause of problem in such a short term. About a week ago, my computer started to act abnormally, such as shutting down during minimum load (i.e. web surfing). This continued for a few hours UNTIL my computer won't turn on until I cleared the CMOS. Then I checked the hardware monitor from BIOS and 3.3v readout was 3.028v, 5v readout was 5.88v and 12v readout was 14v. To confirm this was not a readout error I quickly grabbed another power supply and reading was fine. The real problem here is that this power supply was pumping dangerously OVER VOLTAGE into my computer without even noticing whatsoever. Zalman should have designed the power to not turn on instead of pumping over voltage when they get too old. If I had not noticed this problem, this would have killed ALMOST ALL components in my computer including 8 Hard drives and 3 SSDs.
