GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P (rev. 1.0) AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: USB 3.0 and SATA 6GB/Sec compatible. Works well for the average computer or multimedia computer. Very stable as long as you don't try to overclock.

Cons: Don't try to overclock, it will lose all stability under load. The VRMs (voltage regulation modules) on this motherboard cannot handle overclocking much at all. Also, if your case has a drive bay made to allow space for large graphics cards, the main PCI-Express 2.0 slot on this board is moved over one slot farther from the CPU. That won't affect most people, but it did me. I have to remove my graphics card, to swivel up my drive tray.

Other Thoughts: I initially gave this thing 5 eggs. Using it under normal circumstances it works quite well and is very stable. However, I realized shortly after my initial review, that it is not stable at all under load, when you overclock even a little bit. If you like to get a little more out of your FX 6300 or FX 8320/8350, save yourself a lot of headache, go with a 990 chipset and stay away from this one.

Manufacturer Recertified Corsair Force Series GT CSSD-F120GBGT/RF2 2.5
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Speedy, works as expected. Loads most programs instantly.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: First one was DOA. Newegg RMA process sent a replacement, second one works quite well. Durability remains to be seen, but so far, so good.

Enermax ETD-T60-TB CPU Cooler (Down Flow) With T.B.SILENCE PWM Twister Bearing Fan

5 out of 5 eggs ok, not so bad after all 02/25/2015

This review is from: Enermax ETD-T60-TB CPU Cooler (Down Flow) With T.B.SILENCE PWM Twister Bearing Fan

Pros: Quiet, effective cooling. Looks pretty good, too.

Cons: It is very large. It caused me to have to move my rear chassis fans to the exterior of the case, and it blocks one of my RAM slots. Installation was more difficult than similar CPU coolers I've installed.

Other Thoughts: Re-review. I was rather critical of this cooler, initially. Come to find out the flow on those rear chassis fans I had to move due to its size, was backwards. Once I switched those around, it started working a whole lot better. My AMD 8320 now runs at room temperature idle, and only hits about 42°C under load, even overclocked to 4.2 GHz.
