Great Purchase
Pros: So i dont know if this is standard but mine came with 1333 memory instead of 1066. the whole setup gets about 8000 marks on 3dmark 06 which isnt bad considering a 4870 + i5-750 get about 1500 or so. battery seems to be about 1-3 hours depending on what im doing
Cons: 1366x786, wierd resolution, id have prefered something more normal. minor gripe tho and just a personal one.
Overall Review: the cpu is abit underclocked at 1.6ghz. however the i series boost really saves it. during games i regularly see it shut down two other cores and hit 2.8ghz or so running just two cores. the boost also seems to take effect with four cores active but caps out around 2ghz
Not 800mm deep, doesnt fit dell rails
Cons: Actual depth is 610 or so mm, the stabilizing base is about 800mm. So rails do not fil this rack as the depth is to short. Dont bother with it. Returning it is kinda pointless as they make you pay for shipping and require original packaging
Overall Review: See cons, dont buy it
Excellent Card
Pros: The one i recieved overclocks extreamly well and out preforms a stock 7970 except in programing loads
Cons: base fan speed is pretty loud. But thats normal for ati, drop the fan to ~40% cap and things are golden
Adequate
Pros: see below
Cons: see below
Overall Review: Very decent card for the price, but ive found nvidias drivers to be fairly screwy which is saddening as they used to be so very good. Has about half again the power of my 6800gs so a little bit disapointing there as i figured 2 generations latter would be abit better.
Will be getting a second
Pros: open glide 2.0 support very nice overclockabilty better preforamance than a 6800gt for much less
Cons: only complaint really is the size, but i have a extended case so not much of an issue for me.
Overall Review: 3dmark scores are as following, both on stock cooling stock Score: 5077 Date: 2005-12-21 CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 2351 MHz GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 425 MHz / 1002 MHz oced Score: 6416 Date: 2005-12-21 CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 2351 MHz GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 540 MHz / 1316 MHz
Pros: highly ocable ive gotten it to about 2.115 using ocz plat ram and stock cooling. could most likely get it higher but i dont want to set my timings higher sse3 and x64 for less than half the price of a a64
Cons: only 256k cache, but thats more than tolerable lack of dual channel ram, but most users, esspecial ones buying this can live without it
