Transcend TS-RDP8K USB 2.0 Support CF, SD, SDHC, SDXC, microSD, microSDHC, Memory Stick, MMC, MMCplus, RS-MMC and MMCmobile. All-in-One Multi Card Reader
Transcend TS-RDP8K USB 2.0 Support CF, SD, SDHC, SDXC, microSD, microSDHC, Memory Stick, MMC, MMCplus, RS-MMC and MMCmobile. All-in-One Multi Card Reader

Pros: I purchased this item because it supported Duo Pro memory sticks which my laptop does not. Seemed to be the only one I couldn't use on it. Took it out of the package, plugged it into my Kubuntu (8.10+kde4.2) laptop and it worked right away. Does everything I need it to do.

Cons: Nice black device comes with a white cord, not so pleasing to the eye. Luckily, I own about 20 or so micro-usb cables from all the various devices I've purchased over the years. I have since replaced it with a matching cord.

Overall Review: Unfortunately I got the free delivery on it, which was shipped via DHL. I've had horrible experience with them in the past so I spent the duration of the wait on shipping crossing my fingers in hope that they didn't manage to destroy it before it got here. A few years back I had actually witnessed DHL lob a neighbors medication (glass vial) up a flight of stairs to her door because he was too lazy to walk up the next 8 steps. I am sure you all can understand why I have such a lowly opinion of them.

Amazing Card

XFX Double D Radeon R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 Graphics Card R9-270X-CDFC
XFX Double D Radeon R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 Graphics Card R9-270X-CDFC

Pros: This card has a solid design, it performs well in all the games I've tested including Tomb Raider (reboot), Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed 4, and Skyrim. The cooling system seems to function quite well, 40-45C consistently in AC4 and seems to make almost no noise. Also, it came with BF4 for free.. which is a 60$ game.

Cons: I have yet to find any issue with this card.

Overall Review: The only issue I had with this card was the length, I've had to deal with double-din's before but this one seems to be a bit longer than some. I believe this has to do with the cooling system but it just barely fit in my case, my 3 hard-drive's SATA cables are almost touching the end. I was going to mention this in the "Con" section but I don't really consider it one unless you have very limited space in your case.

Fantastic Motherboard

ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO AM3 AMD 785G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO AM3 AMD 785G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: I love Asus motherboards, and this one is no exception. These support everything I could possibly want to do and even things I wouldn't. These suckers are not without options, 6 USB ports in the back and support for 4 more via internal connections. An array of video and audio options if you want to use the onboard stuff. 6 SATA connections! The bios comes with more options than you can shake a stick at and for the price. On top of all that, the board itself is quite stylish and since I have mine installed into an acrylic case, that matters to me. I am using an AMD Phenom II x2 550 Black Ed. 80w processor in both boards I've used this year, and they all work flawlessly.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I have no other thoughts, paired with the proper ram and processor these boards run like a dream.

Excellent Processor

AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition - Phenom II X2 Callisto Dual-Core 3.1 GHz Socket AM3 80W None Integrated Graphics Processor - HDZ550WFGIBOX
AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition - Phenom II X2 Callisto Dual-Core 3.1 GHz Socket AM3 80W None Integrated Graphics Processor - HDZ550WFGIBOX

Pros: I love these processors, I've purchased 2 this past year, one for myself, and one for a friend. I installed both into "ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO" motherboards (Which I also recommend). If you are looking for fast dual-core processors and don't want to hand over your entire wallet, I highly recommend them.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Was hoping I could managed to unlock a core or 2 on these but couldn't manage to do so. :P

Awesome RAM

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL

Pros: G. Skill strikes again. I remember the first time I bought their ram I thought to myself "I've never even heard of this brand, but I need ram and I don't want to saw off my right arm for it". Since then, I've used them in all my recent PCs. They work well and I have yet to have any go bad on me. If they continue to make a decent product, I will continue to buy them.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Wish these bad-boys came in blue instead of red, to match my black and blue case configuration.

Decent

GIGABYTE Luxo X142 Black SECC / ABS ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
GIGABYTE Luxo X142 Black SECC / ABS ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: I used this case to build a budget system for a friend of mine. Easy to throw together with very simple instructions. I like that the power supply mount is on the bottom of the case, not the top. Came with enough screws to put everything in.

Cons: No HD led, and no reset button. Over the years I've grown accustom to using HD leds to tell if the system is responding or not. The reset button wouldn't have been an issue if I was using a motherboard that supported multi-state button (power when off, reset when on, hold to force power off).

Overall Review: I actually ended up drilling a small hole with a dremmel to insert a spare HD led I had in my "box-o-spare-parts". I told my friend if the reset button became an issue I could do the same for that as well.
