Works with some limitations
Pros: Has everything you want on one board; although I did eventually buy a 9 series video card because I found myself playing more graphic intensive games that required more power then the 8300 onboard could handle; great for a HTPC setup.
Cons: BIOS/Chipset has some limitations. Two SATA ports on the board (black color) can only be used in AHCI or RAID. This is not really an issue as it may be preferable to run all the SATA drives in AHCI. However, if you want to setup drives individually in either IDE, AHCI, or RAID you CAN NOT. The bios only lets you choose one option for ALL the SATA ports. If you choose RAID you will be prompted (F10) to set up the ARRAY and for those SATA devices that do not need RAID you can simply exclude them from the ARRAY, but they are still controlled under RAID mode, of course without any performance or redundancy features since you are not pairing it with other drives. This is not a big problem if you choose one of these three options and stick to it BEFORE you install the OS. If you switch aftwards you MAY need to reiinstall the OS.
Another DEAD Drive
Pros: ?
Cons: This is my second drive (exact same model number) that had serious problems within 1 year. First was a complete drive failure in a DELL PC my wife bought. Second is happenning now in my PC that I built. My current drive is starting to fail, performance is terrible, applications are failing to run because files can not be open, CHKDSK is finding numerous errors on the drive each time I run it (3 times already). I backed up the important files and I expect it will fail very soon.
Overall Review: Vista 32 bit (dell) and Vista 64 bit. Both NTFS I think they need to pull these drives. Move on to 7200.12
Very good value in the market right now
Pros: -Boost GPU and Overclocked -Price -Price to Performance ratio is very high compared to other cards -lower power requirement compared to older video cards
Cons: None so far
Overall Review: replaced my MSI N460GTX that started flaking out on me and causing blue screens and windows freezes I have a X58 Sabertooth PCI Express 2.0 x16 board and this 3.0 runs fine on it Note: I hate rebate offers. I bought the card irrespective of the rebate.
NOT 6GB interface
Pros: I only wrote this review because I found out (through Seagate's website) that this drive is similar to the ST2000DM001 drive. With one major difference .... this drive is 3GB not 6GB. If you want 6GB buy the ST2000DM001 drive. http://www.seagate.com/internal-hard-drives/desktop-hard-drives/barracuda/specs/
Cons: newegg has the wrong description for this drive
Very Loud and Good Quality
Pros: These speakers are large with quality construction. Very good range across all frequencies. They sound better the further away you are from them.
Cons: The 3.5 mm sound cable (green handle) that comes with this set is not good. When connected to the output on the computer it was loose and caused some problems over time. I eventually lost sound to the left speaker. I replaced it with a slightly larger version and it improved the sound quality and I can hear out of the left speaker. I would have preferred if they angled these speakers slightly upward to improve the sound from the tweeters when sitting at the desk. Nothing a small block propped underneath each speaker could not fix. Not a problem for shorter people, or if you are generating the sound for the entire room.
Overall Review: If you plan on placing speakers right in front of you and don't need loud speakers for games or music these are not for you. Stick to the low end like logitechs lower cost brands. If you want good sound out any speakers do not forget to raise your sound level on the computer to over 90%. Too many times I have seen others complain about speakers and they never check the sound level or sound effects (if enabled) on the PC.
First Day w/ Card
Pros: Under normal circumstances it is quiet although gets louder with intensity of graphics, but reasonable.
Cons: MSI does not provide guidance on the amount of amps required to this card. Only gives general guidance on minimum PSU Watts and Amps for system. It is considerate of tehm to provide this info, but I want the exact amps required for the card as well. Otherwise, potential purchasers spend too much time guessing and hoping their PSU and current configuration is adequate. If you have +12V single rail with min. amps recommended you are safe, but if you have multiple +12V rails, you need to do some serious homework.
Overall Review: First time using one of these "double wide" cards. Make sure you have room below the PCI-e card slot (as in most cases the card fans face downward when installed), and don;t forget to take out the metal brackets in the back of the computer case before inserting! :)
