DVD drive sucks
Pros: For the price quite ok. Shipping was also fast, received it in 2 days after ordering it on a Monday morning. General speed according Microsoft's speed test is 3,2..not too well but again, for the price you can not complain.
Cons: I have been trying to burn different DVD's with the built-in DBD burner. This drive is not worth the money as it is specially manufactured from Toshiba and Samsung for an unknown company. This drive destroyed several fresh DVD's when I tried to use Nero or similar programs. It also has huge problems reading data DVD's with pictures for example. So when you often use the system for burning CD's or DVD's, consider buying a better one. Use this as a reader only. Get infos about this drive first, model: TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-H652D. Hard to find a driver!!!
Overall Review: Very quiet fan. Machine does not cause much noise
Junk out of the box
Pros: As it has not worked, no pros here
Cons: Received the headset after a week. Opened it up, attached it to the computer and did not work. Tried three different computers, same result. Poor quality
Overall Review: Maybe just bad luck I had. I may give it a new try and order one again. Not all can be as bad as this one.
Low Write Speed
Pros: Card works as it should be. Reading speed is ok for this card and price.
Cons: Write speed tested:10,43MB/sec (Lower than advertised, rather class 4 card) Read speed tested: 17,97MB/sec (acceptable speed range)
Overall Review: be always careful when you read such amazing speed performances. In many cases it does not reflect reality. For this card a higher writing speed had been more interesting than a fast reading speed.
Extreme slow speed - Not worth!
Pros: Works as a memory card. Have chosen this card because of class 10 and low price. Did not expect a miracle but trusted the given speed information.
Cons: Advertised speeds advertised for this card do not reflect actual tested speed (class 10) Actual speed tests for a 700MB large file are as followed: 1) Write speed 700MB = 9,722MB/sec 2) Write speed 700MB = 14,583MB/sec Final thought: This card is rather a "class 4" than anything above!
Overall Review: Always be careful when you read positive comments. A lot of buyers have no clue how to check actual speeds of such cards. Plus, never rely on information from producers. They usually push data up in order to impress buyers. I personally would not buy this particular card again.
Brilliant picture quality
Pros: The Canon PowerShot A650 IS proves that you don't need to invest in an SLR to get manual controls and large, detailed pictures. As the new high-end member of Canon's PowerShot A-series line of cameras, the 12-megapixel camera comes packed with manual exposure controls and other photographer-friendly features. Its little bulky form maybe does not win any beauty pageants, but the camera's substance more than makes up for its relative lack of style, and its sub-$340 price tag makes it look that much sweeter. With the same 12-megapixel, 1/1.7-inch sensor and 35 to 210mm-equivalent f/2.8-4.8 image-stabilized lens as the higher-end PowerShot G9, the A650 IS sits securely at the very top of Canon's A-series line. In fact, were it not for a slightly different control scheme, a smaller flip-out LCD, and lack of RAW file support, the A650 IS would be nearly identical to Canon's pricier midrange camera. Like most of the A-series, the A650 IS comes packed with a full complement of manual exposure c
Cons: I had the previous model Canon A640 which was only able to accept up to 2GB SD cards. The A650IS does even accept the new SDHC cards with up to 16GB and probably further.
Overall Review: Certainly a good buy
Nice WiFi phone - lacks features
Pros: First I must point out that this phone can really change your phone habits. And when you use it wisely, a reduced phone bill is absoluely available with this phone. When I opened the box and turned it on, it immediately found an open network and I could log in with my skype account name. Making calls are easy and it just works like a cell phone. It comes with a reasonable large and bright display. The quality is fine and the key buttons are functioning properly. I proceeded about 30 calls from the US to foreign skype friends and ordinary phone numbers. The connection couldn't be better. Calls to skype accounts are absolutely free. Most calls to landlines worldwide just cost me 1 US cent per minute. Unbeatable!
Cons: There are several things which need to be solved and changed. When you are out in your car and search for an open network ( works almost everywhere ), watch out the battery life. If you leave it on searching for a network, the battery is flat after an hour or so and you have no more fun with that phone. When you use this phone while you travel, a charger which can be plugged into the cigarette lighter is not available. And where can you buy a new battery for the phone? Another negative aspect of this expensive phone is the fact that it comes with a stupid ONLY 100-110 volt power charger. If Netgear claims that this phone can be used worldwide, why not supplying customers with a universal power supply ( which can be used really worldwide and a charger for the cigarette lighter? For an average price of $200 we should expect that.
Overall Review: I wonder if Netgear will change the power supply to a universal worldwide power charger ( won't cost more than for that cheap 100v-110v charger plus a charger for your cigarette lighter in the car.
