So far so good!
Pros: 1. Quiet! 2. Has been able to read any disk so far (about 10). 3. 1 Year warranty 4. Price
Cons: None discovered.
Overall Review: Please don't make negative reviews about a product if you haven't ruled out user error. This drive is old as an OEM drive. Meaning that it has no cables or bundled software to cut cost. This means that you will have to purchase some software that will play your BDs. There may be some freeware applications on the net somewhere, but I have not found any so far.
Shoddy fan
Pros: Runs most games at high settings.
Cons: The fan that comes on this thing is very cheap and will most likely fail on you. Mine lasted 13 months before the bearings wore out and began producing an obscene amount of noise.
Overall Review: HIS, please spend a few more dollars on a more reliable fan next time.
Make sure to update the BIOS!
Pros: Price PCIe 3.0 USB 3.0 SATA 3
Cons: Before 1.3 BIOS was released (8/18/2013) I experienced many problems. I experienced many problems. BSODs, random hangs, programs wouldn't install correctly, and overall instability. Not exactly sure specifically what the 1.3 BIOS update did for my rig in particular, but my computer has been stable since the update. The programs that were not installing correctly (7zip and origin) seem to be working better now. Haven't had a BSOD since, and no random hangs (**knock on wood**)
Overall Review: Luckily MSI updates the BIOS very regularly (4 BIOS updates in 4 months). I just wish the board was more stable out of the box, and that I didn't have to wait for the 1.3 BIOS to attain a stable rig. Would dock 2 eggs for this, but am only docking 1 since MSI has been very good about releasing BIOS updates regularly. Also, MSI has made updating the BIOS very easy with their 'Live Update 5' application. If you get this board make sure to update the BIOS right away!
Very sleek drive
Pros: Cap fits on the back of the drive when not covering the USB connector. Small. Nice looking.
Cons: None so far.
Very nice drive
Pros: Fast. Shipped with 1.3.3 firmware.
Cons: May require a BIOS upgrade for some motherboards to work properly.
Overall Review: I installed windows on this and discovered that the drive had come with the latest version of firmware already on it (1.3.3) I experienced a few blue screen of deaths using this drive until I flashed my motherboard's BIOS (ASUS P7P55-LX) to the latest version. Now it is both fast and stable. If you are getting BSODs with the 1.3.3 firmware I recommend flashing your BIOS.
So far so good
Pros: Price. Socket 1155. Plays 1080p video without an add on card. Paired with a Celeron G530 and a couple sticks of DDR3 it is possibly the best performance per dollar of all time.
Cons: I wouldn't recommend this for gaming unless you plan on only populating one or two SATA ports; as others have noted a large graphics card would most definitely block at least one of the SATA ports.
Overall Review: Didn't try the onboard LAN so I can't comment on that.
