Still Dual Platter!
Pros: Haven't installed it yet, but I'm assuming that they'll work fine just like all my other WD drives. Bought 2 of them for RAID1.
Cons: Was expecting the single platter drives for my Media Center and got the dual platter ones! :-( Was really hoping for the single platter one so noise and heat would be at a minimum.
Overall Review: Not willing to return and gamble again. I'll just install and if they bust I'll RMA them. NewEgg, please identify what you're shipping to your customers. Especially on these specific situations where the model number alone could mean two completely different products! Your customers are typically highly technical and need this type of info.
WARNING...Don't Buy...WARNING!
Pros: None since it doesn't work most of the time and makes you want to through it against a wall!!
Cons: Many many many well documented issues with these SSDs. Basically they tend to disappear from the system causing all types of BSOD's and explorer lock ups. Got this newer version from Corsair as an RMA for an older Force drive. It has the EXACT same issues! Installed it on 3 different systems (2 desktops and 1 laptop) with different chipsets etc and same old disappearing drive magic trick, causing the entire system to lock up.
Overall Review: I'm not bashing Corsair as I use their cases, cooling, RAM etc. Overall they make high quality PC components. But their SSD's have caused me nothing but pain. In addition Corsair support for SSD's seems to be relegated to a user run forum that provides firmware updates etc (yes I've tried them all) so I think that shows just how much they themselves trust this tech. Do yourself a favor and buy a Samsung, G-Skill or Intel SSD. I own all of those and none of them has caused me ANY issues at all.
Rock solid
Pros: Rock solid SSD after being put through the ringer with cheap Adata SSD!
Cons: None
Overall Review: Partitioned it in two and use it for (8GB) ZIL and L2ARC (40GB) on a zpool.
Review Update
Pros: New board has been rock solid, no complaints.
Cons: none now.
Overall Review: This is an update to my original review about NewEggs RMA handling. Someone decided after I spoke with them to refund me after all! Thank you NewEgg for the right thing. Lesson learned: Ensure you ship the product back in the EXACT SAME box it came in, check the serial numbers on the box itself!
Another dead fan!
Pros: Historically Corsair PSUs have been good to me. They run 24x7 without issue.
Cons: This one had a fan that would spin up on power up but then turn itself off and never turn back on. I only noticed when my server turned off by itself a couple of times after having been on for just a few hours.
Overall Review: RMA'ing but I have to ship first, which means I have to go out to BB and buy a PSU. I'll keep the replacement as a spare I guess.
Horrible SSD
Pros: None since it's so unreliable!
Cons: Many many many well documented issues with these SSD. Basically they tend to disappear from the system causing all types of BSOD's and explorer lock ups. RMA'ed it and Corsair sent me a newer SATAIII model...with the same exact issues!
Overall Review: Do yourself a favor and don't buy Corsair SSD's (all of their other stuff is great). I own G-Skill, Samsung and Intel SSD's and only the Corsair ones have these severe issues! It's NOT the controller because G-Skill uses the exact same. Also, SSD support for Corsair is relegated to a user run forum!
